2. OMS 1240 Composition Power Supply Unit The Power/LCT LTU has two D--type connectors ,each providing a single DC power input (36-75 VDC) to the sub--rack thereby providing protection for external power supplies.

The LCT serial port connector is a single RJ-45 socket. The LCT interface connects via the backplane to the core/CCU card, and via LCT serial port connector and a cable directly to a pc serial port to provide local sub-rack management.

Core Card is considered as the Central Processing unit for all sub-rack slots .

The Line interfaces concentrates traffic signals from the switch into the 155 Mbit/s stream (STM-1) or a 622 Mbit/s stream (STM-4) for transmission over the East and the West optical bearers.

Application Software is stored in non-volatile non system memory Card (SMC) ,with an optional back up to return to a previous version of software .

System memory card contains two system memory banks with software for all the cards that can be fitted in the sub-rack.

2. OMS 1240 Composition Traffic Tributary Units A single dedicated Core Tributary card to provide up to 64 channels of 2Mbit/s PDH traffic, with interface cable connection ports provided exclusively by LTUs. The Core Tributary card provides the HDB3 line drivers and receivers, permitting the LTUs to be simple cards providing only interface cable connectors plus passive line termination.

Two Core Tributary slots are provided to enable the option of 1:1 Core Tributary card protection. Both slots drive and receive the same set of HDB3 interface connections to the LTUs.
