Building on the epic Denver to Moab itinerary, this three-day option includes an additional travel day by rail to soak in the splendor of Utah’s hidden gems between Moab and Salt Lake City. MOFFAT TUNNEL
You’ll traverse the remarkable Moffat Tunnel, an engineering marvel stretching six miles. Here, the train crosses the Continental Divide, the spine of the Rockies that divides the watersheds flowing west to the Pacific and east to the Atlantic. Spanning 650 miles and crossing 21 counties, the Divide encompasses many of Colorado’s highest peaks.
BURNS CANYON
Passing between the Flat Tops Wilderness on one side and Sawatch Range on the other, you’ll encounter a remote gem. The red walls of Burns Canyon showcase the essence of Colorado’s natural splendor, making it an ideal spot for photographs. Visitors during fall will be treated to a tapestry of orange and gold hues.
GLENWOOD CANYON
The largest canyon on the Upper Colorado River, Glenwood Canyon was sculpted by the Colorado River over three million years. This 16-mile marvel – famous to thrill-seekers for its rushing white water – features an intricate network of caves as well as 40 bridges and two 4,000-foot-long tunnels.

MOUNT GARFIELD
Rising to 6,800 feet, this peak is the highest point along the 200-mile-long Book Cliffs. Named for the 20th President of the United States, James Garfield, the peak is known for its remarkable undulating foothills and commanding presence over the landscape. Mount Garfield is one of the most breathtaking natural features in the region.
RUBY CANYON
Located within the McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area, this 15 - mile canyon –named after its vibrant red sandstone walls – stretches along the Colorado River. While popular for river rafting, Ruby Canyon remains largely inaccessible to most visitors, making your journey through the heart of it all the more memorable.
PRICE CANYON*
Carved by the Price River over millions of years, Price Canyon features towering sandstone cliffs, dramatic rock formations, and lush greenery, creating a visual masterpiece you won’t want to miss. As Price Canyon forms the divide between the Book Cliffs and the dramatic Wasatch Mountains, it makes an incredible backdrop along the route.
