Interview With Italy Booking Agent Alvise Sclisizzi December 12, 2014 By Londa R. Marks | Metal Music Interviews Published By Tempi-Dispari, Rome, Italy and Rock Legend News Alvise Sclisizzi: My first lp was “shout at the devil” and i bought it in 1984 when I was 8; I didn’t know the band but I saw the look and I love it! After that I start to listen iron maiden, sigue sigue sputnik, kiss, etc.. Rock Legend News: You obviously feel a connection to music. Would you say you have been a frustrated musician, maybe felt a need to live vicariously through musicians and was there a turning point that led you to work in music, or what exactly has been your approach? Alvise Sclisizzi: I love music and i can’t live without it! I tried to learn guitar and I tried to sing but there was no way to learn... I loved and I still love to go to see gigs all around Europe and at some point I started to help somebody with some bands until me and my business partner thought we can do the work better and we start to promote shows by ourself. ock Legend News: Is it fair to say that you are a rock music promoter with R artists such as John Corabi, Faster Pussycat, LAGuns and others playing exclusively for your agency and has being a music promoter been a point of arrival for you? Alvise Sclisizzi: with a lot of these bands we were fans of them and now we are promoter and friends, we are proud to be the exclusive promoters for them; to be a music promoter is not a point of arrival because we want to be better tour after tour and promote at our best all the bands we work with. ock Legend News: Often many fans want their music idols and role modR els to play in their city. How do you choose one location over another? PAGE 4 ROCK LEGEND NEWS

Alvise Sclisizzi: usually we know which is the best location for one type of music ( some clubs are perfect for death metal but they aren’t good for hard rock or glam…), another reason could be the routing ( it’s better to do short trips than a 600 km trip between two shows…) and last but not least the owners of the venues, we prefer to work with professional and fair people than work more but with bad people. Rock Legend News: Personally, I have seen some concerts in small towns and clubs sold out. Paradoxically, in big cities it seems more difficult to draw a big audience. Am I wrong or does this have to do with how the shows are promoted in larger arenas or what is going on here? Alvise Sclisizzi: it depends, I work with venues in small towns where they draw a lot people and venues in big cities where you can’t draw more than 100 people even if there are guns’n’roses in the club! It’s more important the owner and how he works than the position, one of the best venue in Italy is in a small town in the mountains and all the gigs there went great! ock Legend News: Fans see the artist on stage as happy and performing R creatively as if they are lost in their own world. But, how much work is there behind the scenes? Will you outline what goes into preparing for a concert or event? Alvise Sclisizzi: The 1 – 2 hours of the show often is the smallest part of the work, before the show could be months of hard work like thousands of email and phone calls. sually in the beginning we ask to the management of the band if they are U interest to do a show or a tour here in Italy or the management contact us to offer us the band, after that the management send us the requests ( money, hotel, P/A, etc) and if we decide to proceed we sign contracts and start to work with the venue to organize everything in the best way and to promote the show or the tour everywhere so the people can enjoy the show. Often it’s a hard work but when you see a great band plays in perfect condition with a lot of people in the crowd that’s the best award for us. Rock Legend News: What are your future projects and how do musicians or musicians management get ahold of you and book shows? Who will we see ROCK LEGEND NEWS

in concert soon in Italy? Alvise Sclisizzi: The music world is not so big, everybody know each other so when a band want to come in Italy usually asks to some friends who is a good promoter and so they contact us to play here; we try to be friends with the bands because I think they don’t need only a professional but “cold” agent but they need somebody that take care of them and not oly the one that give them money/food/hotel… We did last weekend vanity blvd a very good hard rock band from Sweden and Prime Circle, one of the biggest rock band in South Africa (where they are multiplatinum) and I think they are one of the best band I ever see live! In the next weeks we will do Lizzy Borden, Fates Warning, Illdisposed, Deicide, Richie Ramone, Anvil, Ginger Wildheart and we’re working for other bands for 2015. Rock Legend News: I want to ask you the same thing I am asking others because it is a profound occurrence now. Why do you think the 80’s/70’s are re-igniting? I mean, it is like it’s 1985 in Colombia, South America; it is happening here in Italy and it is apparent all over the world that the 80’s and even the 70’s rock styles are becoming enlivened again. Alvise Sclisizzi: Probably because in the 70’s and 80’s the rock ’n’ roll became mainstream and all the big bands were born in 70’s and 80’s. I Think the last rockstars are from the 80’s early 90’s and the music change completely: rock’n’roll became hard rock/heavy metal/glam rock/punk rock. In my opinion the 80’s will never die because the people wanna have fun and the 80’s music can give you happiness and fun!
