WHICH MOWER FOR YOUR GARDEN? WITH AL-KO, YOU CAN FIND THE RIGHT MOWER FOR YOUR NEEDS HOW LONG WOULD YOU LIKE TO MOW FOR? We recommend choosing the size of your mower according to the size of your lawn. The decisive factor for the mowing time is the cutting width.

As a general rule, the larger the cutting width, the faster you get the job done. In addition, you don't need to empty the grass catcher so often, because it's usually larger on wider machines. Alternatively, you can sit back and take it easy with a robotic lawnmower.

GRASS CUTTINGS: COLLECTION, REAR DISCHARGE, MULCHING, OR SIDE DISCHARGE? AL-KO petrol lawnmowers are the masters of their trade – including when it comes to mulching and side-discharging. This is because many models can be converted in a matter of moments, without tools, simply by installing the mulching insert or side discharge chute. EASY TO USE The cutting height of the Robolinho® can easily be adjusted using the rotary knob. The variable cutting height indicator and sensitive buttons with illuminated display ensure convenient operation.

Innovative, environmentally friendly and clean – these are the qualities of our battery ranges, which allow all common garden work to be done effortlessly by hand without the need for wires. The secret is the powerful lithium-ion batteries which fit in all devices of the respective range, so you can change it and carry on working in seconds whenever you start a new job.

Choose your perfect tool: Weighing just 350/650 g, the powerful 20 V max. Easy Flex battery is the lightest variant of the AL-KO battery systems.

With an operating performance of 2.5/5.0 Ah, it is an impressive tool for all amateur gardeners.

The new Easy Flex battery range is extraordinarily lightweight. The lightweight batteries, at 20 V max. (2.5 or 5.0 Ah) can be used by 13 appliances for total flexibility. The Easy Flex battery system also shows off its advantages amongst chargers. Choose between the C 30 Li charger, which can make a battery ready in around 50 minutes, and the TC 30 Li double battery charger, in which two batteries can be charged up at the same time in approx 150 minutes.

The two batteries of the Energy Flex range are impressive due to their 40 V max. and 4.0 or 5.0 Ah performance characteristics.

Thanks to their lithium-ion cells, the batteries are extremely long-lasting as there is no memory effect.

The centrepieces of the Energy Flex range are the extra-powerful 40 V max. / 4.0 Ah or 5.0 Ah battery units. In addition to their appealing design, these appliances also feature high-grip ergonomics and a short recharging time of just 1.5/2 hours. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT BATTERY APPLIANCES Many manufacturers use high voltage figures to advertise their battery products.

However, such numbers don't necessarily translate into longer operating times. (volts x ampere-hours = watt-hours) Tip: Before purchasing, look out for the specified capacity in ampere-hours (Ah); a higher ampere-hour value is synonymous with a longer operating time or energy content of the battery.

CELL VOLTAGE AND OPERATING VOLTAGE: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? A battery on its own is nothing special. So to achieve a high cell voltage, multiple battery cells are connected in series, which generates the required operating voltage.

DOES HIGH VOLTAGE MEAN HIGH POWER? Neither voltage nor wattage are accurate indicators of an appliance's power. A volt is the unit for voltage, and watt-hours a unit for energy.

1. High numbers of volts per se are neither good nor bad. Higher voltages permit smaller cable cross-sections and thus reduce the costs and weight of an appliance. On the other hand, high voltages are much more dangerous for users and will necessitate more stringent protections.

2. Watt-hours are calculated by multiplying voltage with capacity (volts times ampere-hours) and describe the energy content and thus also the operating time until recharging will be necessary. Power is measured in watts.

Conclusion: Power can only be expressed in watts or in the combined expression of voltage and current consumed. Any other means of expression could be misleading.

My name is Heike, and a big hobby of mine is looking after the little garden of our urban house. The winter break for domestic gardening doesn't last all that long. Soon after the start of spring, the natural world will spring into life, and so the gardening work needed will last all year round. IT consultant Tobias Robl takes us for a brief tour of his garden, explaining what ambitious gardeners can expect from this kind of project, and how they can deal with the daunting amount of work while avoiding stress.

I inherited the house, situated on a 500 square-metre plot of land, from my grandparents. As they got older, my grandparents began to suffer from physical ailments which ultimately made it impossible for them to give the care and attention the huge garden needed. But since it was such an important part of my childhood memories, and because my wife and I are expecting to have children, I took it upon myself to put the garden back in order.

This poses a huge challenge for Tobias, since there is more to do than just mow the lawn. Because his grandparents' old gardening tools were somewhat outdated, Tobias decided to make some new investments. Energy Flex battery range

The very first job Tobias has to do is the hedges, which haven't been trimmed in a very long time, after which he tended to the lawn. In areas that can't be reached by the mower, he uses the grass trimmer attachment of the Energy Flex multi-tool in order to clear out these areas. Because the various attachments can be switched around, it's a highly versatile combo system, so after a quick breather it was time to tackle the dead branches on the trees.

It doesn't take long to transform the grass trimmer that has just been used into a pruner in just a few simple steps. The Energy Flex multi-tool even enables a further two settings, allowing it to be quickly transformed into a brushcutter or hedge trimmer. For the tougher branches, Tobias uses a suitable chainsaw which is also powered by an Energy Flex battery.

After four and a half hours of gardening, Tobias has accomplished what he set out to do.

His beloved garden, where he once spent countless hours with his grandparents, is now ready for the summer and all of the new memories with his own children. IT'S A MATTER OF HEIGHT Extra tall, extra large – that's the basis of MaxAirflow technology. This is because the extra tall steel plate housing and extra large discharge channel increase the airflow by 42 per cent. As a result, the grass clippings are not transported at a low level into the grass catcher, as is the case in most standard lawnmowers, but are instead thrown backwards in a high arc and remain at the back. This means the grass catcher is effectively filled from the back, without the discharge channel becoming blocked.
