Welcome to Fall 2024 enrichment programs
This Fall Program Guide is an overview of the enrichment programs that will be offered to students in all grades from the September 9th to December 20th. The Auxiliary Programs Departments offers:
Before Care: 7:00am - 8:30am, Study Hall: 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Sports: 3:30pm - 5:30pm and 5:30pm - 7:30pm (Forest Rd Only)
Aftercare: 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Enrichment Programs 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Extended Aftercare 5:30pm - 6:30pm.
The Fall season has been broken into 2 sessions which will optimize students ability to experience a multitude of programs throughout the first half of the school year. It is important to note that Session 1 and Session 2 activity content will not differ. Skills will be built upon from season to season rather than session to session. If you register for the same class in Session 1, students will likely repeat content in Session 2.
We are excited to announce our newest collaboration with Camp Brain. We will be using this platform to complete all registrations for Auxiliary Programs. Please find our Registration Manual on our website to assist with creating an account and tips on how to have a successful registration day.

This Fall, Maternelle students will have the opportunity to engage in our AM and PM Garderie (Before Care and Aftercare) programs. Students will enjoy a multitude of activities to extend the learning day. From arts and crafts and play through movement, students will be engaged from drop off to pick up, Students in aftercare will also be enriched through Yoga, Art and Music classes which will each take place once a week to add excitement and fun to the program. Registration for Garderie can be done on a drop in, semester or yearly basis. Please see below for pricing.

Back to school camp
August 27 - September 6
During the first two weeks of school, students and staff are trying to get accustomed to the new routines that the new school year has to bring. While we get settled into our schedules, Rochambeau is excited to pilot a two week Back to School Camp option. Students will be engaged from the end of the school day until 5:15pm daily in activities such as Arts and Crafts, Sports and Group Games and STEM projects. Students will be divided by grade level to blow off the steam of the day with fun and engaging activities in a safe and structured environment! Join us as we partner with Jump Start to bring a fun back to school program!

Garderie|GS-CM2
After a long day of learning, its time to blow off steam with our Garderie program! Elementary students will have the opportunity to enjoy a revamped Garderie experience. Students will be engaged in a multitude of group activities spanning from Arts & Crafts, STEM and physical activities. Not interested in play with large groups? Opportunities to work independently will be provided whether its catching up on homework, reading a good book or relaxing with friends, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy when spending time in Garderie!

Etude|CP-CM2
Sometimes classroom time just isn’t enough to grasp the concepts being taught throughout the day. Signing up for Etude is the perfect way to get your child the one on one assistance they need with the various classes they are immersed in. Rochambeau teachers provide support to students through individualized attention to ensure they are successful throughout the school year. We keep class sizes small so that each student is able to get what they need. Students are expected to come with assignments as they will not always be paired with their classroom teacher.

Everything from your robotic vacuum to Alexa to self-driving cars use AI and Machine Learning to function. In this course, students explore concepts related to Machine Learning and AI through the lens of gaming! Students create complex competitive games (such as PONG, Platformer, and AI Monster Runner) while learning how to program game characters with AI functionality, vary difficulty levels in interactive games, and use machine learning in game play!
Abjadiyah, inc. curriculum is based on the study of Dr. Rose Hawi. Dr Hawi pioneered a method of teaching the Arabic language after many years of research and study. BLEND IT UP! IN ENGLISH
As the foundation of all dance forms, Ballet helps develop base dance techniques for any style. Ballet classes help students with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, selfdiscipline, and self-confidence, and can potentially enhance your child’s motor, listening, and social skills. Dancers will learn basic steps and terminology in ballet and will begin explore their own expressive movement styles while honing in on important technique.
Designed for young dancers eager to explore a range of styles, this class offers a wonderful blend of structure and creativity. Modern dance is a younger art form than ballet and the movement style centers on the dancer's own interpretations instead of the standardized movements and structured steps of classical or traditional ballet However, in this class we will combine ballet terminology and vocabulary with modern dance in a fun and methodological way.
The Rochambeau Book Club brings together students who love to read, and enjoy sharing that passion with their friends. Students will discover, discuss, and celebrate their favorite books with their peers each week Students bring (or borrow) books to enjoy reading independently, with a partner, or as a whole club. We participate in weekly meetings to discuss the novels they are currently loving! Club members also create book projects, art work, letters to the author, and more.
Our Blending Basics program introduces young enthusiasts to the art of making smoothies, dips, and more Students will learn to blend a variety of nutritious and delicious recipes from around the globe, including Mediterranean Hummus, Mexican Guacamole, and American Smoothies Our sessions are packed with fun, offering kids the chance to learn blending techniques, understand safety protocols, and enhance their culinary vocabulary.

Participating in a game workshop can be a lot of fun! It's a great way to relieve stress, relax and explore new or classic games in a collaborative environment. The range of group and individual games is wide: from board and investigation games, to speed and logical thinking games, everyone will learn while having fun. This is a great way to train memory, attention, problem solving and decision making skills, as well as physical coordination. So why not give it a try?

Our students' work has been used in ads and online Instagrams posts by the Special Olympics, Martha's Kitchen, and local shelters.

Ready to get your kids dancing and grooving to the rhythm? Join our Jazz & Hip Hop Class, where the best of both worlds come together for an exciting and dynamic experience! Using popular and current music the students start learning dances and choreography quickly as well as learning various dance elements. Our version of hip hop/jazz dance is extremely tasteful and clean and our priority is offering age-appropriate material.
Judo develops children's self-confidence, discipline, self-control, strength and dexterity in a friendly, fun environment. Classes will be taught by a black belt (second dan) who teach judo in the Washington area who has teaching experience with children. Grab your passports, we are off to explore new worlds within the Minecraft realm! All clubs are based on enrollment. Rochambeau reserves the right to cancel any club due to low enrollment. Effected families will be contacted and invited to register or waitlist for another club of their choosing. No discounts are granted for cancellations of clubs due to low enrollment. A full refund will be provided for the cancelled club at time of cancellation.
Etude CP-Terminal
Etude Dirigee & EtudeDirigeeetSurveilles
Etude Dirigee is intended for students in grades 1 - 12. This program is designed to give students a smaller group setting than the classroom. Students are able to work independently and with peers to complete homework under the supervision and direction of a Rochambeau teacher. Students are required to come to Etude with all materials needed to complete their homework. Teachers are present to assist students with their assignments and provide additional learning strategies as necessary. This program is designed to aid students who are falling behind and those who want to get ahead,
Etude Dirigee et Surveilles is for students in 6th - 12th grade who need a quiet place to complete their studies either independently or in small quiet groups. Students are monitored by a Rochambeau teacher while they complete their assignments.

SPORTS
Soccer
Soccer is offered to all students in grades CP - Tle. Try outs are done at the end of the previous school year and registration is for the year. If your child is new to the sport, speak to the Athletic Director about the best way to proceed.
Basketball
Basketball is offered on a competitive level to students in grades 6e - Tle. Students interested in joining the basketball team should reach out to Athletic Director, Marc Baudlet. Students in grades CP - CM2 will be able to sign up for the Basketball club.
Running
The running club is offered to students 6e - Tle. This club has two offerings 3:45 - 5:15 or 5:45 - 7:15. Students are able to choose from which ever is most convenient for their schedules.
Volleyball
The Volleyball fall season runs from September through November with Saturday clinic opportunities running September through December. Whether you’re looking for competition or recreation, join our Musketeers for some fun!
Tennis
Our Tennis program is conducted off campus through the Bethesda Tennis Association. Transportation is not provided to games or practices which are held in partnership with Tennis Central
Sports
Rochambeau offers students an opportunity to engage in team sports. Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis and Running are all played competitively and all students are encouraged to inquire
Soccer tryouts are conducted at the end of each school year in preparation for the upcoming year. Students who were selected for the team should have received an email from our Athletic Director with further instructions. In the event of an error, please email clubs@rochambeau.org so we may follow up.
Volleyball is for students in Middle and High School. Tryouts will be announced in September and schedules will be shared with all players that make the team. Practices will be held on Tuesdays | 4e/3e Coed 5:45PM-7:15PM Wednesdays | Varsity Coed 5:45PM-7:15PM Fridays | 6e/5e Coed 3:45PM - 5:15PM
Basketball is played competitively in both Middle and High School. Try outs will be announced along with practice days and schedules.
Cross Country is open to all College and Lycee students. Practice is held on Mondays from 3:45PM - 5:15PM and 5:45PM - 7:15PM.
Tennis opportunities exist for Middle School and High School players to play against local private teams.. Starting in September, we'll be offering training sessions with our partner Tennis Central. Sessions will be held on weekdays and weekends. Transportation is not provided.

Once the registration period has closed, all requests will accrue at $100 change fee. No refunds will be granted beginning Monday September 23 for reasons including (but not limited to) days of absence, days lost due to unexpected school closures, instructor no shows, dissatisfaction etc.
All Extended Day services are non-transferable and may not be shared between students, days or sessions.
All requests to change or cancel registrations should be sent in using the google form available on our website. Requests will not be deemed official until received via the google form. This is to keep request in one place and to ensure all requests have been addressed.
Programs may be cancelled if they do not reach the minimum number of participants required to run. In the event an option is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be given the choice to switch into another open activity if space allows, or you will be refunded the cost of the Program.
All refunds due will be processed within one month of request or cancellation. If your Extended Day account is current, with no balance owed, you will see a refund come back to your original form of payment.
