HALL SENENOF
2022 is the fifth year since a cinema building called Grand Theater Senen (GTS) stopped operating, used to be one of the first cinemas in Jakarta. As mall now became the centerplace for recreation, people left to choose mall cinema over old cinema building. Misused of the building as a place for pornographic film screenings, prostitution and narcotic drug sales became the reason of the closings in 2017. Located in Simpang Lima Senen, one of the busiest street intersection in Jakarta. Inheriting unique Art Deco style in its design, GTS acts as tangible evidence of developments in Senen. However, after fifth years, there has been no follow-up or plan from the gov ernment or related parties to revitalize the Grand Theater Senen building. Through an adaptive reuse approach, the Grand Theater Senen building is promoted to complement the spatial, social, program and demographic struc ture of Senen. The distinctive features of Art Deco architecture become the basis for memory which is further developed as the main characteristic of the building, which is combined and matched with mod ern architectural styles, so as to create a harmonious design that combines old and new elements. Con tinuing the collective memory of Senen as a form of identifying the true identity of the Senen area.

Create a Character
The Art Deco character in the existing building is replicated and further developed throughout the building, building a harmonious image and reinforcing the Art Deco elements that are typical of the legacy of Grand Theater Senen.

Judging from the photo above, the situation now looks apprehensive and requires intensive repairs. The Grand Theater building looks inclusive and outdated, not much activity going on other than being a parking lot. This situation seems to be a spreading disease, for example the corridor of the bookstore and the office next door which also looks sluggish without any activity. This building looks inclusive with a zinc facade covering the entire face of the building, the legacy of the Art Deco architectural style also looks not well preserved at the head of the building, as well as the cutting of the head of the building for road widening. The arrangement of the interior spaces looks solid and dark, iron bars cover the ground level of the building, creating clear boundaries between the outside and inside areas.
Filling one of the busiest intersections in Senen, Grand Theater is considered to have a strategic position at the TOD point, close to 2 busway stations and connected to PS. Senen and Atrium mall via JPO. Being in a facial position, the Grand Theater has the potential to represent facial images at the five-senen intersection. Its position close to the five-senen intersection also encourages the processing of this project to be in line with the initial goal of the five-senen intersection, namely promoting pedestrian-friendly designs and being able to connect the components that fill the five-senen intersection (ps. Senen & Atri um mall).
Program Placement
To create pedestrian friendly space, along the right side of the building was made for pedes trian walk, while vehicle parking entry & drop off was put far on the back of the building.
There is four tower surrounding each building mainly building A and B, placed into each corner to ensure optimal accessibility. As the mass was split into three, related program was put into the same mass, the split was intend ed to create inner outer relationship between a building and the city environment.

The solid and massive form of the old building mass, encourages the division of the mass into three parts, each of which has a different role and function. The division of mass encourages the formation of outdoor space circulation among the masses, encourages ac tivities around it, promotes the movement of outdoor space for pedestrians. The distribution of mass also allows for a more even penetration of light, allows opening of more open cir culation access along the north and south sides of building B, and forms a building complex that builds the atmosphere around the plaza (number 13) .

Art Deco Style
PratamaRobin|Portfolio Building A | Office | Floorplan | Number 6 |
The key of Art Deco architectural style lay in the use of homogeneous materials, play of decorative elements and lights to showcase its intricate shape. This revitalization of Grand Theater Senen (GTS) was presented as a better version of its former self to showcase the beauty of Art Deco style as its true identi ty. Transforming the old dark corner building into a landmark that enrich the city space of Simpang Lima Senen.

The Main Hall
A typical tightly closed cinema building is transformed by providing a void space in the middle of the building, into a communal space that connects the surrounding spaces. The distinctive openings of the Art Deco windows also adorn the narrow areas, allowing the penetration of light from the Sky lights to reach the spaces below.

MARKET
2021|Pluit-Jakarta|Market|MarketUrbanPluitIntroduction.
Globalization that occurred in this decade brought a mixture of cultures and traditions around the world. The market as part of the space for people’s daily activities is not immune from the influence of glo balization intervention. In Indonesia itself, traditional markets are a type of market that reflects the culture and traditions of the local community, becoming a place of livelihood, fulfillment, recreation and social interaction that is full of values and norms in society. Located in the densely populated area of Muara Ka rang, Pluit, North Jakarta. Muara Karang Market is one of the traditional markets that previously held the above role. However, along with the develop ment of commercial areas in Pluit, the Muara Karang market is no longer the destination of choice for the community other than being just a place for buying and selling. | 5600m2 | PLUIT, JAKARTA | 2021

GREEN SPACE GRID
Mapping the green open space grid, which is generally used by the commu nity as a communal space, the location of the market itself occupies the miss ing green spot, thus encouraging the design of a market that functions as a communal space.
process, the context of the area and the site environ ment play an important role in determining the design, so un derstanding it is an essential of understanding what is needed by both the community and the sur rounding environment.

The arrangement of dense urban space is formed from several housing com plexes, with a relatively high population, making the market an important es sence of daily fulfillment.

The density of traffic flow home before work hours, underlies the development of a good night-market/food market as a form of replication of the typology of programs around the site.

URBAN CULTURE | MUARA KARANG With a location that has direct access to the backflow connecting the pluit-kapuk, the envi ronment around the Muara Karang Raya road has great potential for commercial develop ment, which is generally found on the back flow path. This can be seen from the culinary business filled with visitors during office hours until late at night. This place is a destination for those who want to eat food, interact, gath er, and socialize.

URBAN CONTEXT | MUARA KARANG Surrounded by commercial shophouses, the market perception is no longer seen as an individual building but as a cluster that complements and fulfills various market variations. Because of this, a design that takes into account the connectivity between lots is needed in establishing market connectivity with the environmentalcontext.

GENERAL CONDITION
01. MARKET CONTEXT
The market that has been around since 1997 (24 years) has entered its last de cade of existence. Throughout its journey, the Muara Karang market has become place where people fullfill their daily needs, as gathering place, and part of neighborhood interaction and activity takes place. However the spatial design that was built, was not originally planned to accomodate what has been said before, this has forced the market spaces to adapt harshly.
The market perimeter is where the culinary delights took place, it is a social space for people to meet, interact, and eat, this event lasted morning till noon. The market adapts various activities in this section that were not previously planned during its initial design. So it is common to found a restaurant in the market. Though it took place on the outer side of the building, somehow it is what makes the market alive till today.
2021|Pluit-Jakarta|Market|MarketUrbanPluitDesignProcess.

The building itself has little to no connection to its surrounding environment and pro gram, make no interaction in between. It has symmetrical design that has no dis tinction with every other buildings. Traffic jam occurred everyday because many of the parking space was placed alongside the market, blocking the street level view and disturb circuliation at pedestrian level. The market is designed to be as compact as possible to maximize the number of rental units. The closed market creates a dark at mosphere and it was poorly ventilated.
Semi-permanent tarpaulins connect the market with adjacent buildings, creating a narrow path where street vendors filled right in the side of the alley. What they sold is varied from food, ac cesssories, even clothes, and etc. The con dition of the building that is not pleasant, make people prefer street market over shopping inside the market building itself.

02. STREET MARKET CULTURE
03. DEGRADED BUILDING
The bustling atmosphere of a narrow dark and crowded market is common and part of the community’s culture commonly found in many Indonesian Market.

STRATEGYCONCEPTUALInachieving
The rigid structure of urban space encour ages the use of a square-shaped site, so that the maximization of the perimeter of the site based on the building coefficient can be achieved.
the goal of market revitalization, several design con cepts were applied based on the contextual environment, site, cul ture and traditions of the local community, as well as the devel opment of programs owned by the previous market.
CONNECTING AXIS Formed two transverse axes that connect each plot across the market, this axis will later become the lifeblood of the market where visitors will pass.

MARKET AS A PLACE
BACK TO WALK
In an effort to fill the void of green space in Pluit, the mass of buildings is divided along the connecting axis, with the center of the mass being the main space for market ac tivities as well as green space.
The overall shape of the building is made of terraces with the aim of maintaining the skyline and transitioning the height of the shophouses around it, this is achieved by forming a gable roof that peaks at the back.
The connecting road was converted to function as a pedestrian walk, as well as a replication of the street market to activate the corridors of the surrounding space.

In an effort to dispel the old image of a dark and slum market, the market facades facing east and west are made transparent in an effort to make market activities visible from the outside to passers-by, and also to allow natural light into the interior of the market. The wooden facade that extends along the road, is intended as an attractive area as well as shows a prominent difference along the path as an entry point from the market, which was not shown in the previous building.

Deaf people inhabit a rich sensory world where vision and touch are a primary means of spatial awareness and orientation. Many use sign language, a visual-ki netic mode of communication and maintain a strong cultural identity built around these sensibilities and shared life experiences. When a particular building on education was created, the intention was to include everyone in the process. The problem was the students and the deaf commu nity had no say or empowerment later on in making the important designs. When it came to designing the next building, the goal was to change this pow er dynamic. Therefore a space that can empowered their ability suit their need was created in the form of library that also act as innovation incubator that em powered the dead community.

By how deaf people communicate through signing, this allowed to create silent space that suitable for readers to focus, therefore the space can be as open as possible. Open spaces also allowing deaf people to com municate and interact on diffrent level, the level create diffrent space and boundary that make the deaf feel safe at their stand.

To recreate the imaginary site, a wiring diagram was used in the process, uniqueness of structure and pat tern of wiring diagram somehow look similar to how our city develop, therefore in the process, the line on the wiring diagram would represent the lot / site and the fold would represent the topography.
Design Concept Tango as a form of dance had many unique shape neither form, this uniqueness itself was carried over into the design process, in the approach of thev design concept, a tango sillhouette was choosen. This 2 di mensional shape was later transformed into 3 dimen sional to form an architecture massing.
