US plant to shed 79 jobs in move to Ohio Diamond Innovations to shut up shop by end of September
NATALIE BURKE
SEVENT Y-NINE jobs are to be lost at a Swordsbased company, it has been announced this week. The jobs will be lost at Diamond Innovations, as
the firm is to close its plant in Dublin and moves to Ohio. The firm produces tools for the mining and construction industries and is to end production at its Irish plant in Clonshaugh Business Park by the end of September.
Diamond Innovations has been in operation in Ireland since 1981. Earlier this week SIPTU met management at the company to discuss the threatened job losses and according to SIPTU organiser Karl
Byrne it was “devastating news” for the workers. “The employees are still in a bit of shock and what they’re really struggling to try and do is find a way forward.” Full Story on Page 7
