Fears service change will lead to ‘lives lost’
Calls on Minister to protect Dublin Fire Brigade’s ambulance service
keith bellew
CONCERNS are growing in North Dublin that if the Dublin Fire Brigade’s (DFB) ambulance service is transferred to the HSE, “lives will
be lost”. Last month, hundreds of Dublin fire fighters took to the streets to protest. Swords man Paul Clifford credits the DFB for saving his son, Reuben, who stopped breathing at four days old.
He said: “It was the speed with which the firefighters arrived, along with their professional and expert medical knowledge, which made all the difference for Reuben.” Cllr Darragh Butler (FF)
called on the Minister for Health to intervene and protect the DFB ambulance service, saying: “If the ambulance service is removed from DFB, lives will be lost.” Full Story on Page 4
