Increase in number of wheelie bins stolen It is believed that the bins are being stolen in order to be set alight
Natalie Burke
Gardai in Swords have reported an increase in the number of wheelie bins stolen in the area, after a number of incidents have taken place in local housing
estates in recent weeks. It is believed the bins are being stolen in order to be set alight by groups or individuals who engage in antisocial behaviour and that these groups are burning bins as a congregation
point. Highfield in Swords is one estate that has been hit by the problem in recent weeks and local Cllr Darragh Butler (FF) has seen firsthand the effects of such incidents.
“Paying for a new bin can be a whack for people’s finances and I don’t think the people stealing the bins are realising the consequences of their actions.” Full Story on Page 3
