Calmer waters for pool project Ian Begley
COUNCILLORS have agreed to include the Lucan Swimming Pool project in the next council capital programme for 2016 to 2018. The motion, brought up at the Lucan area committee meeting by Cllrs William Lavelle (FG) and Vicky Casserly (FG), assures that a public swimming pool will only be provided within these years if the necessary funding becomes available.
Cllr Lavelle said it was vital that the project be included in the next council capital budget as the Government will only provide about a third of funding if the national swimming pool programme is reopened. Cllr Liona O’Toole (Ind) tabled a separate motion in which she requested Sport Minister Paschal Donohoe to visit Lucan and meet the people behind the swimming pool campaign. Full Story on Page 6
