Mixed reaction to plans for new swimming pool Local politicians welcome news but campaigners have some reservations
MARK O’BRIEN PLANS for the new swimming pool have been greeted with cautious optimism by campaigners. The plans were unveiled at the recent Lucan Area Committee meeting of South Dublin County Council. The complex will be situated beside
the leisure centre in Griffeen Valley park. The plan includes two pools, with the smaller pool having a moveable floor so it can be used by people with reduced mobility. The complex will also have a gym, an exercise and training centre and a cafe. Local politicians welcomed the news
but campaigners say they have some reservations about the plans. Cllr Danny O’Brien said: “As a councillor who has worked on this project since I was elected in 2014, it is with great pride that I can witness this amazing amenity progress to this stage.” Continues on Page 4
