Spate of shootings sparks call for action ‘Shocking escalation of gun crime’ demands immediate intervention – FF

LUCAN is still coming to terms with what has been described as a “shocking escalation” in gun violence in west Dublin, with one fatal shooting close to the
village last week. In the space of two days last week, two people were murdered and three others injured in shootings in west Dublin. Two men from Ballyfermot were injured in a gun attack; a woman was killed and her
daughter injured in Tallaght, and Stephen Douglas Moran was shot to death in Lucan. Fianna Fail spokesperson on justice, Niall Collins, said: “This is a shocking escalation of gun crime. It’s clear that immediate intervention
is needed before more lives are lost.” A spokesperson from Lucan Garda Station told the Gazette that each crimerelated incident is dealt with separately. Full Story on Page 9
