Fossett veteran back in the ring IAN BEGLEY
TO celebrate her massive contribution to the circus world, 84-year-old Lucan star Herta Fossett is being honoured with the Circus Friends Association Lifetime Achievement Award, marking it with the return of the circus to Lucan at Sarsfields GAA grounds. What isn’t widely known is that the Fossett family home has been in Lucan since 1956 with all of the chil-
dren and grandchildren being educated at Lucan Community College. Teddy Fossett was even seen on occasions walking a lion down to the village post office as if it were a dog. Speaking to The Gazette, Herta, who is originally from Czechoslovakia, said she had no plans to retire, adding: “It’s really nice to be recognised for all of the work that I’ve done in my lifetime.” Full Story on Page 2
Spooky craft: Young talent haunts library as Halloween creeps closer LEX Nastin was among local
youngsters and their families who attended Arts and Crafts with Elena at Lucan Library recently to enjoy a workshop with a spooky theme.
Lex is pictured showing off a black cat and Halloween pumpkin which he enjoyed creating at the event – a great way for children to show off their talent. Picture: Jolanta Rossiter
