Halawa’s sister seeks a meeting with Kenny Ibrahim being tortured and held in death cell in Cairo, say family

SOMAIA Halawa, sister of jailed Irish teenager Ibrahim, has asked to meet the Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, to discuss what the Government
can do to have her brother immediately released from an Egyptian prison. The trial of Halawa, son of the Imam of Clonskeagh mosque, was adjourned until April 26 in Cairo recently. In Dublin, over
100 people demonstrated for his release. Somaia said Ibrahim was being tortured and held in a death sentence cell. Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett (PBP) said the Taoiseach needed to deliver a “robust
and public demand” for Halawa’s release. Mr Kenny said he had asked Foreign Affairs Minister Charlie Flanagan to continue to do his best in the case on his behalf. Full Story on Page 3
