Council denies depot sell-off Bairbre Ni Bhraonain
A WAR of words has erupted between a local politician and Dun LaoghaireRathdown County Council over a council depot in Mount Merrion. Cllr Barry Saul (FG) says the inclusion of the Mount Anville depot in the new Draft Traveller Accommodation Plan (2014-18) contradicts the council’s former commitment to sell the site to accrue capital funding.
Cllr Saul said the former county manager (Owen Keegan) submitted a report on the disposal of council depots to the council in May, which included a commitment to sell the site when the property market recovered. However, the council said it “is not aware of any commitment to sell the site ... if the council decides to dispose of the lands, the objective to provide Traveller accommodation remains.” Full Story on Page 4
