Residents end protest at path repair pull-out Demo is called off after council open dialogue over unfinished work
Bairbre Ni Bhraonain
Residents who were up in arms about unfinished footpath repairs at Nutgrove Avenue because of lack of funding have ended a blockade protest. The stand-off
between irate residents and contractors for the council started when works on footpaths in the cul-desac stopped due to lack of funds. Raymond O’Kelly, chairman of Nutgrove Residents’
Committee said they were thrilled when work started after waiting 15 years, but when the contractor pulled out they blocked diggers with a van. Gardai were called to the scene but it was only when
a council official opened lines of communication with the residents that they stood down. The council says works will resume when “funding resources are made available in 2014”. Full Story on Page 4
