MICHAEL Murphy was on the ball when it came to showing his support for Terenure Rugby Football Club, who took on UCC Cork at Lakelands Park recently. Damp and squally conditions on the day couldn’t thwart the local team, who blew through the impressive opposition to win by 33-19 in a great match for Michael and all the fans to enjoy. New gaelscoil approved for Stepaside region 20 students set to begin at temporary facility located at Aikens village site

A NEW gaelscoil has been given the go-ahead for the Stepaside region. It will temporarily be located on a green site in Aikens village for a period of three
years while a permanent site is found. Applications have been received for the post of principal in the new gaelscoil and patrons, An Foras Patrunachta, are due to commence interviews next
week. Caoimhin O hEaghra, general secretary of An Foras Patrunachta, which also runs the 400-pupil Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille in Stepaside, said the school will be accept-
ing about 20 students in September, and that it is being built in response to a resurgence in interest in the Irish language. “There is a great demand in the area,” he said. Full Story on Page 2
