Dalkey Castle residents keep a lookout as vistors arrive to experience 21st century technology interact with 15th century living at the castle and heritage Centre this summer. Travel back in time to the Murder Hole and a recreated medieval toilet! Actors from Deilg Inis Living History Theatre Company recreate past events before visitors return via the 21st century to browse an interactive timeline. The free tours are on Monday and Thursday, from July 3 and September 4. Booking is advisable.
Council cuts costs on chamber revamp ‘It wouldn’t have been right to spend €1m at a time of austerity’

DUN Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is getting a modest makeover at a cost of €59,000
to accommodate its additional 12 councillors, instead of a planned €1m new rooftop chamber. The number of councillors has increased from 28 to 40 following local government
changes. A spokesperson for the council said work had already been carried out to accommodate the increase. Cllr Victor Boyhan (Ind) said: “It would not have been right to have
spent €1m during a time of austerity and business closures. “The council recognised that fact.” Story on Page 4
