Councillors vote 16-10 to pass Traveller plan Strong opposition as latest county draft accommodation programme agreed

THERE was more opposition than expected at a Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council meeting this week during a vote
on the latest Draft Traveller Accommodation Programme 2014-2018 for the county. T he draf t plan was endorsed by 16 councillors, with 10 opposing it.
The plan proposes Traveller accommodation at 11 potential sites around the county, including in Dun Laoghaire, Pottery Road and the West Pier at Dun Laoghaire Harbour.
Cllr Denis O’Callaghan (Lab) said: “I am disappointed that some councillors voted against the programme for, in my view, spurious reasons.” Full Story on Page 6
