Council stance on road fatality ‘lacking’ I BAIRBRE NI BHRAONAIN
THE recent death of a Polish national at Kill Avenue has sparked a dispute between Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Councillor John Bailey (FG). Cllr Bailey wants to see safety measures put in place by the council at the soonest opportunity to ensure there are no future accidents on the busy road. The council has stated that
speed surveys will be conducted on the road to ascertain what signage is needed, and Cllr Bailey’s suggestion that Rory O’Connor Park become a cul-de-sac “will be considered”. In response, Cllr Bailey said that the council was using information contained in an out-of-date review from 2008, and things have changed utterly since then. “I’m not happy with their response,” he said. Paws for thought: Lions get a new leader as Jim steps down LOCAL Lions had some paws for thought when the outgoing president of Killiney Lions Club, Jim Bradfield, stepped down recently, handing on the chains of office to Tracey Vard at a function held in the Purple Ocean
restaurant. It was a time to congratulate Jim on his leadership, to reflect on the members’ great work under his stewardship, and to look forward to continuing their efforts under Tracey’s leadership as the new president.
