Canal cycleway work set for 2015 Laura Webb
Work on a new cycle path through the city is expected to begin in 2015, providing the missing link to cycle paths already in place. The cycle lane will go from Portobello to Blackhorse (Inchicore). This is the second phase of the Grand Canal Premium Cycle Route, which is set to link up Sheriff Street to Grange Castle. A funding allocation of €100,000
has been allocated by the Minister for Transport, Leo Varadkar to facilitate preliminary design, the planning process, detailed design and preparation of tender documents for this section of the route. Construction work is expected to start in 2015. Dublin South East TD Kevin Humphreys (Lab) said this route will further encourage people to cycle and they will use it as a mechanism to get around Dublin. Full Story on Page 2

special fundraising dinner and awareness evening in aid of the ISPCC. Held at the restaurant that Jamie co-owns with Joe Macken, the evening was specifically in aid of the ISPCC’s anti-bullying Shield campaign. Picture: Richie Stokes
