Google’s €150m centre gets council go-ahead New facility in Newcastle is set to create 60 full-time jobs

Google has officially been granted planning permission by South Dublin County Council to build its second Irish data centre in Newcastle, Clondalkin.
The council recently granted permission for the new €150m data centre, which will be built beside an existing Google facility which opened in Clondalkin in 2012. The new centre is expected to create 300
construction jobs and 60 full-time positions at the data centre once built. Clondalkin Deputy Robert Dowds (Lab) welcomed the investment, saying: “The new €150m Google data centre is a huge boost to the area, and taken
together with the investments from Microsof t and Eircom, shows that Clondalkin has become a major high-tech hub.” However, Sinn Fein’s Cllr Eoin O’Broin is critical of the council’s agreement. Full Story on Page 5
