an operatic fundraiser in St Brigid’s Church of Ireland in Castleknock that took place in March raised the grand total of €7,390 for Home-Start Blanchardstown. Presenting the cheque to HomeStart co-ordinator Joan Ashbrook was Rachel Devlin and Mary Troy, who organised the fundraising event. Home-Start is a local charity that provides practical support and mentoring for families under stress with a child under five years of age.
School extension plan gets green light at last Community scores a victory as funding is finally released

A SCHOOL community have scored a victory after funding for their long-promised extension at Castleknock Community College got the green light.
Money for the extension, which includes a sports hall and 10 new classrooms, is part of a €150 million stimulus package announced by the Government last week. Earlier this year, the school discovered the project was
not included in the Department of Education’s five-year building plan. Over the past few months the school community has held numerous public meetings putting pressure on local politicians to release
the required funding, which was promised back in 2006. Principal of the school John Cronin said: “This extension will complete a site that offers a fantastic education to Dublin 15.” Full Story on Page 2
