Lack of social houses blasted KEITH BELLEW
LOCAL representatives have lashed out at the Government amid revelations that there are no plans to build any social houses in Dublin 15 in 2015. The council intends to build 38 houses in 2015, nine in Balrothery, Balbriggan, 14 in Cappagh and 15 in St Cronan’s, Swords. Cllr Matt Waine (AAA) believes that the Government is not provid-
ing enough funding for local authorities to build homes, and Deputy Ruth Coppinger (AAA) challenged Tanaiste Joan Burton to “put a bandage on the haemorrhage of homelessness”. The Tanaiste responded, saying: “We have set out an additional €2.2bn in 2015 and the next three years to roll out one of the largest and most radical social housing programmes in decades.” Full Story on Page 6
Unsung hero: Alison awarded for going the extra mile ALISON Donnelly from Clonsilla (right) was among 100 workers honoured for their dedication in the 2015 GEM Awards (Going the Extra Mile) presented recently by ISS, a major provider of outworker business services. A member of the winning Irish
Women’s Rugby Team, Nora Stapleton (left), introduced this year’s GEM Awards. Alison manages three cleaning clients for ISS and impressed the judges with her “can do” attitude and for being a key contributor to the team.
