The play here at VVC was directed by Ed Heberlin with music from our very own Orchestra directed by Dr. Karen Miskell and the choreography by Katherine Page. All actors are part of the Victor Valley College students from the main character The Man in The Chair played by Samuel Hanke. The play here at VVC was on the first weekend of May this musical comedy. It started off dark with a man making a prayer once he finished the prayer “Oh dear God let it be a good play I just want a good story and a few good songs that will take me away, I just want to be entertained Amen” the light shines on him and he begins to tell us about a play that took place during the 1920’s in Marasco Theater. He pulls out a record
and plays side one. The “play” starts off by introducing the plot and what is going on which is a woman who is preparing for a wedding as the wedding planner comes in he says he still has so much to prepare. In come The bride Janet Van De Graaff (Cynthia Meade) and groom Robert Martin (Michael Gatewood) and their relationship from engagement to cheating to getting married. The Drowsy Chaperone had about four plots/ storylines the first would be the wife and husband. Second Feldeine (Gabriel De La Paz) and Kitty (Isabella Ruiz) about how kitty wants to become the new front center of a show also how the two gangsters John and Noah tall (Noah Hernandez, Christopher Benitez) react when they find out Janet will not return to the show. Third would be The drowsy chaperone and
Adolpho and their relationship through the play not knowing each other to getting married at the end. And last would be of course the Man on The Chair the one telling the whole story and giving a play by play on each character and what he likes and does not like about the “play” he also includes facts about the actors in the play and who they are when not playing a character. There were many plots through the story ut one common theme throughout the whole story was the comedy. The drowsy chaperone made funny remarks and even some of the side characters such as when Mrs. Tottendale (Chantel Cagie-Cordova) stated “A glass of ice water is Vodka” since it was set in the 1920 that was the prohibition of alcohol was not allowed Continued on Page 4...
