An Original play written and directed by VVC instructor Khalif Gillet
Coping with a blossoming mental illness, Bobbie—a young poet experiencing suicidal ideation —writes a premonitory piece that gives him pause on his path of self-destruction. Now, he is the maestro of his own funeral as he tries to justify his desire to take his life and figure out how those he’d be leaving behind can be “fixed”—or rewritten, so that he can be assured they’ll be okay without him. However, problems arise when the lines between these fictionalized versions of his friends and the memories of who they actually are become blurred, and he can’t alter them with his poetry. Soon, the characters begin to gain autonomy as Bobbie begins to take accountability for the lives he would be affecting if he were to take his own.
