01 Re_Hub

01 Re_Hub

Re_Hub proposes a transit oriented network of cultural institutions that connect to one-another at a regional or national scale. Each center proposed is a node in an infrastructural network. Re-Hub is the first of a future national development. Sunland Park offers a great opportunity to implement strategies for a transit oriented city, bringing compact mixed-used development within walking distances of high capacity transit system. Re-Hub is the backbone to this areas development by providing a central bus hub that will accommodate future development. Re-Hub proposes a new transit system for Sunland Park providing vibrant streetscape, and smart bus stops with a hyper central bus hub serviced with a proposed museum. The Nature Experience Center (Nature and Science museum) explores the local natural landscape, and provides a formal space for it as well as the small fossil formation and vegetation seen on the mountain. The Nature Center, along with the hub triggers future development for the emerging Sunland Park entertainment district.

06 Brainery Downtown El Paso

El Paso is influenced by many cultures each providing unique forms of arts. I wanted to create a space for this community of young artist. The brainery is a community center for fine arts: music, theatre, dance, technology art, robotics 3D printing and light installations. This brainery becomes a cultural hub for emerging artist in the borderland. Concept

Floor Plan

The concept comes from the idea of the clash between objective and subjective in this profession; arts, architecture, painting, sculptures, dance music. I decided to take this dichotomy for my design. The objective became expressed in my building giving the overall shape with rectilinear lines with sharp edges. The skin became the subjective, a fluid idea a projection of you imaginations and fantasies. These two ideas hug each other and work simultaneously providing form and function and climatic benefits for the ARTS brainery.

08 Maya Urbana Acclimate Housing

Communal housing for climate migration: Unpredictable and extreme climate fluctuation has triggered a new phenomenon: global climate migration. Droughts and floods in highly populated areas are forcing large populations to relocate to more suitable, but perhaps unfamiliar, weather conditions. Housing this population will require designing for climate, and designing for change. The Design Studio focuses on questions of familiarity, unfamiliarity and transference within the domestic space. Part I Spatial Explorations: Students explore potential spaces for climate migration dwell-

ing by designing a small space in response to a given environmental condition. Creating a volume with spatially constrained dimensions on an abstract site. The outcome of this exercise will allow students to develop architectural ideas and explore their use for dwelling, rather than adopting normative notions of dwelling. The generic will be avoided and ideas from this exercise will carry forward into the larger housing project.

Part III: Acclimate Housing: The final assignment is the design of a climatological

housing project in Medellin Colombia based on the climatic site analysis, projective analysis and dwelling exercise. I have chosen a site along the transect and will propose a specific response to that site and its requirements. The final building must provide a maximum of 35 dwelling units and it is to follow the specific typology studied with the intention of inventing and evolving it to mitigate current environmental constraints.

create a series of meshes that respond to Medellin's specific micro climate. The site situated north east Medellin contains sloped housing with prevailing winds towards the North. Using this climatic condition I used meshes with specific apertures to provide natural ventilation for a specific residential space.
