ELLIMAN HERITAGE

1911

In 1911, Douglas L. Elliman and his brother, Roland, opened the Douglas L. Elliman & Company at 421 Madison Avenue in New York City. The company was founded on Elliman’s vision that New Yorkers would shift their preference from traditional homes to luxury apartments that were both sold and managed by a comprehensive real estate company.

1912

Elliman pioneered the residential preference of affluent Manhattanites – from their private town homes to luxury apartments – with his 1912 rental to celebrity senator Elihu Root. By placing a high-profile individual at 998 Fifth Avenue, one of New York City’s first luxury apartment buildings, he paved the way for other wealthy New Yorkers, who quickly followed suit.

Mr. Olita was a pleasure to work with from the start to the finish of my *first time* home buying experience. To start, he showed an unmatchable expertise of the north shore of Long Island’s real estate market and helped me narrow down my initially wide range of towns to two or three. Thereafter, he helped me identify neighborhoods that I would be interested in, both from a homeowner’s perspective as well as an investor’s perspective.

Throughout the process, Mr. Olita was only a phone call away, no matter the day of the week or the time of day. Anything I asked, he was able to answer, including the tougher questions when it came to negotiating with the seller’s broker.

Moreover, he guided me well through the process of actually making offers on homes. He pegged his opinion on the value of the home as well as the price point that he thought would be the lowest point that the seller would agree to. We ended up meeting at a price that I quite honestly never anticipated we’d get the house for. I owe it to Mr. Olita’s negotiations and deal making expertise.

All in all, I highly recommend Mr. Olita to anybody looking to either buy or sell a home. While I know he is typically known for higher profile homes with several more 0’s after the dollar sign than mine, that should not detract any speculative buyers or sellers from reaching out to him for more entry level homes. He walked me, a novice first time home buyer, through the entire process and educated me on the residential real estate market. 10/10 process and professionalism. Would highly recommend him to anybody at any price point. Fantastic agent. I will undoubtedly be engaging him once again for my next transaction.
