Si narra ... ...che in una giornata di pioggia, dove il rumore del tuono si alternava al tamburellare della pioggia battente, due non piÚ ragazzi decisero di costruire una bicicletta elettrica che apparisse elegante, unica, fashion, insomma in poche parole che fosse COOL, che rispondesse al desiderio di liberare il proprio spirito. Basandosi sulle esperienze lavorative accumulate, e felici di questa idea passarono due giorni a lavorare nella stesura di un business plan che avesse senso e gli permettesse di capire la direzione da prendere. Il terzo giorno si incontrarono nuovamente per discutere il risultato del business plan, e dopo un paio d’ore il risultato era decisamente chiaro. Il progetto non stava in piedi! I ragazzi si guardarono negli occhi e, sorridendo, decisero che si poteva fare. Nasceva la IaRo Motor Company
History has it... ... that on a rainy day, while the sound of thunder took turns with the drumming of the pouring rain, two men, no longer boys, decided to build an electric bicycle which looked elegant, unique, trendy, in short COOL, which met their need to allow their spirit to run free. Building on the work experience accumulated over the years and happy with this idea, they spent two days drafting a business plan which made sense and which would allow them to understand the direction they needed to take. On the third day they met again to discuss the result of the business plan, and after a couple of hours the result was decidedly clear. The project couldn’t work! The boys looked at each other and, smiling, decided that it could be done. The IaRo Motor Company was born
Tanti, e non tutti andati a buon fine, sono stati i tentativi di lanciare il progetto. Alcuni falliti miseramente, altri che son rimasti in equilibrio per un po’ prima di cadere, costringendo i nostri ragazzi a ricominciare da capo. Ogni volta che qualcosa andava storto, per loro era una esperienza nuova della quale facevano tesoro, ma una cosa è certa... più andava male... più si rafforzava in loro l’idea che erano vicini ...

Each time something went wrong, it was a new experience for them, one that they capitalised on, but one thing was certain... the more they got it wrong... the more the idea they were onto something got stronger...

Il progetto nasce dal desiderio di produrre una ebike che fosse quanto piu possibile vicina ad una motocicletta. Ispirandosi alle piu affascinanti di queste, anche datate nel tempo, lo start up ha avuto subito l’obiettivo di trovare un telaio che potesse adattarsi ad un buon numero di tipologie di moto, prima ancora di disegnarne uno. Dopo un periodo di ricerca sono stati individuati due diversi telai che potevano esser adattabili, ovvero che non avessero “offeso” il fascino delle moto “muse”. Un passaggio impegnativo è stato quello di poter creare dei serbatoi uguali a quelli delle moto, che contenessero la batteria, la centralina e quanto necessario, nascondendole alla vista. In ultimo identificare il tipo di motore da utilizzare per il nostro prodotto. Ci piace raccontare di questi tre punti perché oltre ad essere importanti, hanno rappresentato i primi fallimenti... e sono stati proprio questi che alla fine, ci hanno ancor piu motivati Se comunque il telaio ed il motore sono stati, tra tutti, i più “semplici” da risolvere, la creazione dei serbatoi non è stato uno scherzo. .... ed ovviamente la Legge di Murphy ci ha messo del suo, facendo sì che uno dei nostri pilastri, colui che con le proprie mani d’oro, riusciva ad assemblare ogni cosa, ci lasciasse per dedicarsi ad altro. Felicissimi per lui ma assolutamente disperati per noi. Sono stati mesi difficili, dove, in qualche momento, abbiamo anche esitato, pensando di mollare tutto. Fortunatamente se uno di noi si lasciava un po’ andare, l’altro gli lanciava quella parola magica che ci permetteva comunque di andare avanti e proseguire nel dar vita alla nostra idea.

The project stems from the desire to produce an e-bike which is as close as possible to a motorcycle. The start-up was created with the immediate goal of finding a frame which could adapt to a considerable number of types of motorcycles, even before designing one, inspired by the most fascinating of these, even if outdated. After a period of research, two different frames which could be adapted were identified; i.e. ones that did not “offend” the glamour of our “inspirational” motorcycles. A challenging step was to create tanks like the bike ones, holding the battery, the control unit and everything necessary, hiding them from view. Finally, identifying the type of engine to use for our product. We like to talk about these three steps because in addition to being important, they represented the first failures... and it was precisely these that ultimately motivated us even more. However, where the frame and the engine were, actually, the “simplest” issues to solve, creating the tanks was no joke. .... and of course, Murphy’s Law did not help, ensuring that one of our mainstays, the one with hands of gold, who was able to assemble anything, left us to do something else entirely. We were very happy for him, but on the brink of desperation for ourselves. Those were difficult months, when, during some moments, we even thought of giving up. Fortunately, if one began to come apart, the other managed to say the right, magic word which allowed us to move forward and continue to breathe life into our idea.
Tanti, e dico tanti ne abbiamo provati; alcuni scartati quasi subito, con altri ci avevamo creduto per poi rendersi conto della triste realtà. Nel frattempo avevamo interrotto la promozione marketing, per non incappare in pessime figure, quando di fronte ad un ordine sai di non esser in grado di produrre... ...e quindi cosa poteva accadere?... che arrivò un ordine attraverso il sito e... non era proprio il caso di rinunciare, con il rischio, anzi la certezza, di bruciarci definitivamente. Forse quella situazione ci ha dato lo slancio per risolvere il problema della produzione. Ogni nostro prodotto è rigorosamente costruito a mano, pertanto avevamo bisogno di trovare un bravo artigiano che avesse anche la capacità di risolvere eventuali problemi che non mancano mai, in sostanza avevamo bisogno di Gus. Si perché lo abbiamo trovato, e praticamente lo avevamo quasi in casa, senza rendercene conto... ed ha dato prova più di una volta di avere quella operatività di problem solution che è necessaria a chi, come noi, vuole creare un oggetto prima di tutto capace di rappresentare chi la possiede, un oggetto che rappresenti da solo il valore della libertà.
Ecco, questi sono stati i nostri principali fallimenti ..ma siamo pronti ad affrontarne di nuovi, con la consapevolezza che ogni soluzione aggiunge un tassello alla nostra unicitĂ .
Opss... Dimenticavo... la bike ordinata on line e' stata consegnata con immensa felicita' del nostro biker.
We tried a lot of solutions, and when I say a lot I mean “a lot”; some were discarded almost immediately, others we believed in, then came up against the sad reality. In the meantime, we stopped our marketing promotion, so as not to lose face entirely when receiving an order you know you are not able to produce... ... so what else could happen?... what happened was that an order arrived through the website and... we just couldn’t say no, with the risk, indeed the certainty, that this would crush us completely. Perhaps this was what propelled us to solve the production problem. Each of our products is strictly handmade, so we needed to find a good craftsman who also had the ability to solve any problems, those ever-present ones, in short, we needed Gus. Yes, that’s right, we found him, and he was hiding in plain sight, on our doorstep practically... and he has proved more than once that he possesses those troubleshooting skills necessary for those who, like us, wish to create an object above all capable of representing those who own it, an object which alone represents the value of freedom.
In a nutshell, these were our main failures.. but we are ready to face new ones, aware that each solution adds a piece to our uniqueness.
Opss... I nearly forgot... the bike ordered online was delivered on time to the total joy of our biker.

Tutti conosciamo la storia di Icaro, figlio di Dedalo, che volle volare talmemente in alto da far sciogliere le ali di cera che lo sostenevano avvicinandosi troppo al sole. Qualcuno si potrà domandare perché abbiamo scelto proprio questo nome per una splendida e-bike. Perché la nostra ICARO non è di cera ma è sostenuta da un telaio di alluminio, e come il personaggio mitologico, può portarvi in alto su ogni pendio, che sia su strada, o su sterrato, dotandola di pneumatici da arrampicata. Perché, come per l’Icaro mitologico, la nostra ebike rappresenta il desiderio di conoscere, di sentirsi liberi con l’aria che accarezza il viso. Ma soprattutto perché viviamo in una società labirintiaca, dove si vive di corsa, dove tutto deve essere, nella quale viviamo nella contraddizione tra giusto e sbagliato, tra desiderio e necessità. Proprio come Dedalo costruì le ali per far fuggire il figlio Icaro dal labirinto, che lui stesso costruì, e dove ne rimase bloccato, la nostra “Icaro” rappresenta quella via di fuga, quel tornare ad essere noi stessi, con il nostro feeling, il nostro spirito di libertà che si nutre dell’aria che attraversa con la sua potenza espressa in Watt. ICARO trae ispirazione dal modello della Harley Davidson dei primi del 1900, anch’essa con la presenza dei pedali per la messa in moto. Ne abbiamo ripreso il telaio, il serbatoio, che custodisce al suo interno la batteria a ioni, la centralina che governa le varie funzioni; ne abbiamo ripreso la fanaliera, e la abbiamo impreziosita con elementi in pelle, ed alcuni moderni ed utili gadget. ICARO non è una e-bike, è un modo di essere, è manifestare il proprio stile con discrezione, sapendo che non si può passare inosservati. Che sia completamente nera, o di altro colore, che abbia inserti in pelle in contrasto o che monti le bisacce posteriori, ICARO ti porterà a destinazione, in ufficio, in centro per un aperitivo superando gli ostacoli del traffico. Puoi guidare la tua ICARO in gessato blu, così come in jeans e bandana. Potrai avere un’andatura leggera, con il motore da 250W a pedalata assistita o potrai sfrecciare nel traffico usando l’acceleratore, spinto da un motore elettrico da 350, 500 o anche 1000W. In ogni caso il tuo stile, il tuo “i am what i am”, sarà l’elemento comunicativo primario.
We all know the story of Icarus, son of Daedalus, who wanted to fly so high that he melted the wax wings which supported him by getting too close to the sun. Some may wonder why we chose this name for a beautiful e-bike. Because our ICARO is not made of wax but is supported by an aluminium frame, and like the mythological character, can take you up any slope, whether it’s on the road, or on dirt, if you equip it with hill-climbing tires. Because our e-bike represents the desire to experience freedom, to feel free with the air flowing on your face, just like the mythological Icarus. But above all because we live in a labyrinthine society, a rat-race, where everything has to be, one in which we suffer the contradiction between right and wrong, between desire and necessity. Just as Daedalus built the wings to make his son Icarus escape from the labyrinth while he remained behind, so our “Icarus” represents that escape route, that feeling of becoming ourselves once again, with our spirit of freedom nourished by the air we powerfully slice through thank to its powerful Watts. ICARO is inspired by the Harley Davidson model from the early 1900s, which also had pedals to start it. We followed its frame, the tank, which houses the ion battery, the control unit which governs the various functions; we copied its headlamp system embellishing it with leather elements and a few modern and useful gadgets. ICARO is not an e-bike, it’s a way of being, it’s a way of expressing a personal style with discretion, knowing that you cannot go unnoticed. Whether it is completely black, or any other colour, or whether it has contrasting leather inserts or rear saddlebags, ICARO will take you to your destination, to the office, downtown for a drink, conquering and avoiding the traffic. You can drive your ICARO in your blue pinstripe suit, as well as in jeans and a bandana. You can drive it in a more careful and casual manner thanks to its 250W motor with pedal assistance or you can whiz through traffic using the accelerator, driven by a 350, 500 or even a 1000W electric motor. Whatever your style is, your “I am what I am” will be the primary communication element.

Nato da una specifica richiesta ricevuta attraverso una fotografia, rappresenta l’icona della Harley Davidson. Il Chopper Captain America è stato una delle prime apparizioni in un film di una HD. Cavalcato da Peter Fonda nel film Easy Rider ed ovviamente amato e desiderato soprattutto negli anni 70. La nostra replica ha cercato, per quanto possibile, di attenersi all’originale, replicando il serbatoio. La sella è necessariamente stata costruita da un fornitore HD, mentre il telaio abbiamo cercato quello che più si adattava alla circostanza. Il risultato finale è stato poter sentire un meraviglioso “wow” da parte del Cliente, e direi che questo per noi rappresenta la paga migliore.. Dotato di un motore da 250W, a padalata assistita, senza acceleratore, perche così è stato richiesto, l’ e-chopper non può non farsi notare quando gira per le strade.
Born from a specific request received by means of a photograph, it represents a Harley Davidson icon. The Captain America Chopper was one of the first HD appearances in a movie. Ridden by Peter Fonda in the film Easy Rider and obviously loved and desired especially in the 70s. We tried to stick, as far as possible, to the original, by replicating the tank. The saddle was necessarily manufactured by an HD supplier, whilst for the frame we searched for the one that best suited the occasion. The end result was the customer’s “wow”, and I would say that this represents the best accomplishment for us.. Equipped with a pedal assisted 250W motor, without accelerator, based on the customer’s desires, the e - chopper cannot go unnoticed when it runs around the streets.
