Site Survey 1
Youth Community Centre
Tectonic Precedent Study 2
/ VANBRUGH PARK ESTATE
After the site survey (Project 2), my Main Design Project involved elaborating a proposal for a youth community centre using a garage of the Vanbrugh Park Estate as our site My design intent was to create a purposeful community centre destined for the estate's recreation and intentional development.
The ground floor houses the estate's caretaker's office, which has views of both sides of the building while still being in contact with the community centre below. I kept the existing brick walls that characterise the site and included doubleheight gardens to bring natural light and underground air circulation The main entrance has unrestricted access, and its service areas are located below the street, preserving the residents' movement above
I carefully studied precedents, including Josep Ferrando in Spain, Juliaan Lampens and Kersten Geers David Van Severen in Belgium, and Caruso St John Architects in London, to design a harmonious centre that added value to the existing site and strengthened the community.

/ VANBRUGH PARK ESTATE
Since 1963, Chamberlin, Powell and Bon's Vanbrugh Park Estate has been a modern residential complex that embraces space, modernity, and community. With a diverse range of dwellings located southeast of dynamic London, its residents and caretakers harvest a caring and warm environment worth preserving and investing in Through this survey, I spent time at the given site to fully understand its physical, material, and other less tangible characteristics at the beginning of the design process The aim was to record and measure the immediate site and to study parts of the broader context of Greenwich and Blackheath.
Site Photography and Spatial Analysis

I embarked on a journey to uncover how architecture communicates through its fundamental elements: space, structure, and skin By delving into the work of architect Carla Juaçaba's House in Santa Teresa in Rio de Janeiro (2017), I aimed to investigate how architectural elements shape a building's identity and its relationship with its surroundings
This project not only deepened my appreciation for architectural synthesis but also strengthened my research, analysis, and model-making skills It was a profound exercise in understanding how spaces communicate, tell stories, and become integral parts of their environments
Grade A+
“Excellent submission No comments on the model, simply immaculate, beautifully photographed.”
(Tutor Bruno Silvestre)
I engaged in a four-week architectural design project focusing on creating a building with one room, forming part of a collaborative architectural ensemble The task required working within certain limitations to explore creativity, emphasising crafting a space defined by beauty and proportion without a predetermined function.
This project enhanced my ability to work creatively within constraints and reinforced the importance of risk-taking and iterative exploration in the architectural process.

I worked as a Project Manager in my studio group to design and assemble a bench at a scale of 1:1 using a modest quantity of timber, simple construction material, a tight budget, and time limits As a team, our geometrical theme was the square, and we explored methods of assembly and the spatial potential of ordinary construction materials The structure must be demountable and prefabricated into transportable elements by hand.

The module ‘Architecture Starts with Seeing’ offered a series of intriguing lectures on the world of multifaceted architectural analysis and interpretation This experience culminated in crafting a 1500word essay on a topic that resonated with me during the course, allowing me to delve deeply into historical contexts and theoretical frameworks.
My topic was the spatial innovations in the early 20th Century between Frank Lloyd Wright in America a lowing link: isu.pub/Ey
