A FINAL WORD A message from your Course Leader and Academic Strategic Lead Karen Cross 'Completing your honours degree in 2020/21 has been unusual to say the least! We've all had to adapt, do things differently and dig deep into our reserves of motivation and resilience. In a time when so many opportunities were lost, I hope you appreciate the opportunity to continue with your education, albeit in a different form from what you expected. In a year when the world slowed, I hope you feel immense pride in your progress. It is that motivation and resilience that makes you so valuable now to prospective employers, so make sure you emphasise those skills in your CVs, LinkedIn profiles and job applications! I wish you all luck with whatever comes next, and remember, you will always be an RGU alumni, so do keep in touch and let us know if you need support or advice… we will be happy to hear from you, and to help in any way we can.' Not only have you grown as individuals but in a few weeks’ time you are done with stage 4. It has not been an easy year for any of us but the one thing you have all had in common is your degree, which has I hope grounded you. One of my highlights of my year was the Christmas quiz with Fiona, which we know you enjoyed. Me I have been shopping, enjoying the snow, with my youngest and my dog Piper and by the time you have read this I will have had the vaccine. As new graduates who are full of fresh ideas, you are very well placed to shape the future of fashion. A message from the Stage 2 Head of Year and Course Leader Nichola Strachan 'You have done it! Congratulations 😃. It has been an extraordinary year and you’ve all most likely faced different challenges and experiences, many of which are not what we envisioned for your final year of Fashion Management, but these have all contributed to your fantastic achievements this year. Everyone looks at achievements differently and they all deserve celebration. It might have been that moment you pressed ‘submit’ on that coursework assignment, giving your first online presentation, or perhaps something as simple as getting out of bed for that 9am online lecture (or logging in despite still being in your pyjamas). What I mean by this is don’t measure your success based on others, instead look for ways to learn from your experiences as you approach your next goal. It is difficult to offer ‘words of wisdom’ for you all when there is so much uncertainty in the world, which you already know. You also already know how to be resilient through rapid changes, how to make the right decisions for your own growth, and motivate yourself to get sh*t done - even if it is a small first step. So keep doing what you have been doing, set new goals, be open to any and all opportunities that come your way, and be kind to yourself. You’ve got this.' Everyone has always said to me your school years are the best time of your life and you do not want to grow up. WHAT ARE YOUR CAREER ASPIRATIONS? Something that is never the same and allows me to leave the office environment.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MEMORY FROM UNIVERSITY? Going to London and staying in a rough area with the girls and sleeping in a basement. Or being able to be in London the same time as Rebecca and going to various events and constantly eating at Buns and Buns. WHO HAS BEEN THERE FOR YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR DEGREE? My boyfriend and family who became my proof readers for 4th year.

My incredible, beautiful, talented and inspired flat mate and best friend, my dad and my boyfriend. WHAT ARE THE TOP THREE THINGS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST? - See the Northern Lights - Open a dog shelter/ animal rescue farm - Travel around the world in a mobile tiny house
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MEMORY FROM UNIVERSITY? The trip to London in 2nd year! WHERE DO YOU WANT TO TRAVEL NEXT? OR MOST FAVOURITE LOCATION ON EARTH? My most favourite location on earth is New York, but I would love to travel to Australia, Bali, Iceland or Alaska.
WHAT ARE YOUR FINAL WORDS AS YOUR DEPART STAGE 4? After having previously dropped out of a psychology degree, I was a bit wary of going back to uni, but this has been some of the best times of my life. I'm so grateful to have met the loveliest people and have been taught by such great lecturers. I will definitely cherish this time forever.

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU ARE MOST PROUD OF? I am proud of myself for not giving up during the last four years when I found things difficult. I have managed to make it out on the other end, and I couldn't be happier. WHO HAS BEEN THERE FOR YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR DEGREE? Maria, Ailsa, Leia, Lucy, Amina and Caitlin! We all came through college together; we have been each other’s lifelines the past four years and I could have done it without them! And of course, my family and boyfriend! WHAT ARE YOUR CAREER ASPIRATIONS? I would love to work for a magazine company, especially Dazed, my absolute dream. WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS TIME? Hopefully living lavishly in a penthouse apartment, in a big city, with a great life. Oh yes. WHERE DO YOU WANT TO TRAVEL NEXT? I want to travel/work in Japan and South Korea! Two places I admire dearly.

Undertaking a year-long placement at Needle & Thread in London led me to learn many life lessons and grow both as a person and as a professional. FAVOURITE FASHION INSPIRATION OF ALL TIME? Carrie Bradshaw, and definitely my mum, both are timeless icons. WHERE DO YOU WANT TO TRAVEL NEXT? OR MOST FAVOURITE LOCATION ON EARTH? Just like the ‘Eat Pray Love’ film, I would love to undertake a journey starting from my native country Italy, and then travel to India and Bali seeking to find the balance of body, mind and spirit. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MEMORY FROM YOUR TIME AT UNIVERSITY? Undertaking the photoshoot for the University Fashion Magazine at the Aberdeen Art Gallery with my partner in crime Liam is definitely my favourite memory. I was so honoured to have the chance to pose along prestigious art pieces and combine my passion for both art and fashion.
WHAT ARE YOUR FINAL WORDS AS YOUR DEPART STAGE 4? At induction day I remember walking in the class and feeling at the right place, at the right time with the right people. Four years later and I am very grateful to have met so many friends with whom I have shared so many experiences, laughter, celebrations and memories which I will cherish in my heart forever.

WHO HAS BEEN THERE FOR YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR DEGREE? My family, boyfriend, and Miss Hannah Michie who I got the bus from Woolmanhill with on our very first day of uni and carried on the tradition ever since. She gives great advice, has been so supportive, and is the best dance floor companion in Atik (inny) xx ALL TIME FAVOURITE FASHION INSPIRATION? Probably my sister. I'm always stealing her clothes and she is a lot cooler than me lol. FAVOURITE LOCATION ON EARTH? My favourite location is probably the South of France (particularly Côte d’Azur) as I have wonderful memories there growing up and it is unbelievably stunning.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MEMORY FROM UNIVERSITY? So hard to choose, but I had the most amazing time at the Pure London trade show during my placement as I got to meet so many interesting people from around the world and was surrounded by gorgeous clothes all weekend! I have also had some of the best nights of my life at the rugby, architecture, and blues balls. Oh and the ski trip to Val Thorens was the absolute best! WHAT ARE YOUR CAREER ASPIRATIONS? If I’m happy, surrounded by good people, and am making enough money to travel, buy lots of delicious food and buy lots of pretty clothes then life will be sweet.
WHAT ARE YOUR FINAL WORDS AS YOUR DEPART STAGE 4? I have absolutely adored my time at uni and on this course! Despite the stressy deadlines, I’ve had a blast and I feel so lucky to have met so many lovely, likeminded people and to have been taught by such wonderful women. I’ll miss it lots.
