Garent Piazza
Garent Station i Atlanta i Georgia

Concept
The Garnet Piazza is a project based on the premise of affordability and community living. The building is centered around the piazza that was designed to create three phases throughout the day. In the morning, the piazza will act as a farmers market. In the afternoon, the piazza will act as a dinning center/food court. Finally in the evening, the piazza will act as theater. From this, the dwelling units will surround the the piazza to enhance the theater like center. From this, amenities are placed around the building to replace what the limited size unit are missing.

Level 1
The level 1 floor plan is a heavily program based to hide the utility and BOH. Retail stores are placed in the front of the building which gives a strong presence to the Forsyth Street. The Site contains a 12 FT slope wich requires one of the lobbies to offset. The residental gym and loker rooms takes most of the square footage, with residental storage units placed along the east side of the building. Finally the Building has a garage for loading that are availabe to the restuarant, retail stores. and farmers Market.

The dwelling units were designed for a typical fresh college graduate or a small family resident. The units were designed around the premisee of affordability with construction cost being taken into consideration. There are three types of units, Studio Unit, Single Room Unit, and Double Room Unit and were designed in a way that allowed for stacking, so that the building unit pattern changed throughout the building.

master plan Study ı s/l/a/m collabroative design
San Diego State University is seeking to moved from NCAA to PAC-12. S/L/A/M Collaborative was awarded the sports study to meet the facility and spectating requirements for the sports division promotions. SDSU is located in a prime area with limited real estate which provided unique challenges to this growth required in PAC-12 facilities.

involvement
Our sports studio wanted to provide a model that captured the topographic challenges. I was asked to model the site on sketchup with the survey provided, while also modeling the sports facilities using revit. The sports studio met regularly to further the design of the facilities.

Approach
Clemson Jervey athletic center was a project that S/L/A/M Collaborative sports studio prusited. A feasibility study done by Garvin Design Studio was developed and provided. The building was explained to be a 50,000 sf building that contained athletic strength & conditioning program, nutrition program, and the Sports Medicine & Recovery Program.

With the feasibility study done by Garvin Design Studio, the team provided with the information of limited budget. We further developed the design with the design and I was pulled to express the slight gesture changes of the building terrace. The design is shown in the exterior of the building, celebrating the stepped terraces. The renderings show the atheltic facility on a regular day and a gameday.

Approach
Every year, SLAM Collaborative focuses on a community design project. For 2022, the Atlanta office allowed their Architects in Training (2) to further develop the design phase. The community project is a design on an abandon building that the client had bought and started to construction on the site illegally. After the city found out, construction was ordered to stop until further notice. We collaborated with the client over a design that was pursing a futuristic acid scaffold look.
