THE MATCHUP

ROBERT MORRIS COLONIALS VS PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS (6-4-2 | 4-3-1 AHA) (7-7-0) Game 13 Dec. 15 Robert Morris at Penn State 7:30 p.m. State College, Pa. Penn State Ice Pavilion

THIS WEEK Robert Morris hits the road again after a single game at home as the team travels to Penn State on Saturday for the first-ever meeting between the two clubs when the puck drops at 7:30 p.m. The game at State College, Pa. is the first of two consecutive meetings between the two Pennsylvania clubs as they will meet in the inaugural Three Rivers Classic on Dec. 28 in Pittsburgh, Pa.

LAST TIME OUT This past weekend, Robert Morris stepped out of Atlantic Hockey action as they took part in a home-andhome series with Ohio State on Friday and Saturday. In Columbus, Ohio on Friday evening, the Colonials would come away with a 3-2 victory after losing two players to match penalties. Despite being down 1-0 for most of the first period, Robert Morris would get on the board with less than a minute remaining in the first as defenseman Andrew Blazek would net his second goal in as many games. After allowing the Buckeyes to regain the lead in the second period, senior Adam Brace would tie the game while shorthanded. While killing off one of the two major penalties in the period, Brace would pick off a pass and skate in on a breakaway for the second RMU goal. The Colonials would take the lead for the first time in the game while on the power play. Jeff Jones would knock down a clearing attempt and dish a pass to Scott Jacklin would would lunge to tip in the puck past the diving goaltender. Despite a furious push from Ohio State, Robert Morris would hold on to take the victory, 3-2. The win would push the Colonials record to 3-0-0 all-time in Ohio State’s home arena. The next evening, the two teams would meet again in Pittsburgh, Pa. as the Buckeyes made their first trip to RMU’s home rink. In front of a sell-out crowd of 1,589 - the most ever for a Robert Morris home game - the two teams would skate to a 2-2 tie before putting on a shootout exhibition for the fans. The Colonials would take the early lead as Adam Brace would pick up his second goal of the series. Ohio State would respond in the second period while on the power play, making it consecutive games that the Robert Morris penalty kill had allowed a goal against. Freshman David Friedmann would find the back of the net to start the third period after defenseman Tyler Hinds showed some nice hands in the offensive zone stick-handling through members of the Ohio State defense to feed an open Friedmann. Ohio State would pick up the game-tying goal in the final minutes of regulation. Both teams would have numerous chances in the overtime period before the Colonials would take the exhibition shootout in four rounds, 2-1.

ABOUT ROBERT MORRIS After extending their unbeaten streak to four games, Robert Morris now sits with an overall record of 6-4-2. The offense for RMU is clicking at a pace of 2.8 goals per game while the defense and goaltending is allowing an average of 2.5 goals per game.
