THIS WEEK Robert Morris starts a string of five games against non-conference opponents as the Colonials take part in a home-and-home series with a trip to Ohio State on Dec. 7. The two teams will then meet again in Pittsburgh on Dec. 8. Faceoff for both games is at 7:05 p.m. LAST TIME OUT Robert Morris took three of a possible four points against Atlantic Hockey foe Holy Cross in a two-game series last weekend. In Friday’s contest, the Colonials would pick up the lead just eighty seconds in to the game and never let go of the lead. RMU would hold a 3-1 advantage before taking game on by a score of 4-3. On Saturday, Robert Morris would fall behind early before a second period power-play goal would force overtime as the two teams would skate to a 1-1 tie. In a series where ten different Colonials registered a point, no player would record more than two points and a differenc Colonial would score each of the team’s five goals. Andrew Blazek’s power-play goal on Saturday was the first for RMU since Nov. 2 against Bentley. Coming in to the weekend, the Colonials had allowed a power-play goal against in five of their six Atlantic Hockey contests. On the weekend, Robert Morris would kill off all thirteen man advantages that Holy Cross would have. Those thirteen successful kills increased the team’s success rate from 77.1 percent to 83.3 percent. Seeing game action for the first time since Nov. 2, senior goaltender Eric Levine would backstop the Colonials in both contests to improve his record to 4-2-1 on the season. ABOUT ROBERT MORRIS The Colonials enter the weekend series with an overall record of 5-4-1 following a series against Holy Cross last weekend. The Colonials are averaging 2.9 goals per game while allowing an average of 2.6 goals against per game. Senior forward Zach Hervato leads the team in scoring with twelve points (six goals and six assists), and now is one point shy of his career high of thirteen points from his sophomore season. Hervato’s six goals are also a team high and line mate Colin South’s five goals make the duo the only two Colonials to have five or more goals on the season. Sophomores Scott Jacklin and Jeff Jones share the team lead with seven assists after each forward had picked up an assist in the series against Holy Cross. Sophomore Cody Wydo is the only Colonial to record more than one game-winning goal for the team as the forward picked up his second game winner against Holy Cross on Friday evening. Senior goaltender Eric Levine returned to game action against Holy Cross and improved his record to 4-2-1 after the series. In seven games this season, Levine holds a 2.27 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage while also recroding his second career shutout against Quinnipiac in the second game of the season.

SCOUTING OHIO STATE Ohio State is 7-4-3 overall and 6-2-2 in against CCHA opponents this season. The Buckeyes’ four losses have come against Minnesota-Duluth, Quinnipiac, Alaska, and Lake Superior State. The Buckeyes are coming off of a sweep of CCHA rival Michigan State last weekend. The Crusaders are averaging 2.1 goals per game while allowing an average of 1.9 goals per game. The Crusaders have scored six power-play goals in 62 chances (9.7 percent) while the team has allowed nine power-play goals to their opponents in 59 opportunities (84.7 percent). Sophomores Ryan Dzingel (Ottawa ‘11) and Tanner Fritz pace Ohio State with thirteen points each. Dzingel’s six goals are the most of any Buckeye this season and he is the only one to have five or more goals. Senior Brady Hjelle has started eight of the Buckeyes’ fourteen games with freshman Collin Olson starting the other six contests. Ohio State is in its 49th season of Division I hockey after finishing the 2 (Sat.) @ Mercyhurst * 7:05 p.m. 2011-2012 season with a record of 15-15-5. Head Coach Mark Osiecki is in hie third season with the Buckeyes after graduating from Wisconsin in 1994. Osiecki’s record while at Ohio State is 37-37-12 including Home games in BOLD ITALIC CAPS the fourteen games this season.
