RMT STATIONS COMPANY COUNCIL UPDATE-JUNE 2025

• Rates of Pay & Conditions of Service 2025-as per the Stations/Clerical pay agreement an increase of 3.4% (February RPI) has been applied as of 1st April 2025.

• Stations Restructuring Initiative (SRI)-following rejection of the most recent offer by the RMT National Executive Committee there are no further negotiations with the company proposed.

The following is a summary of the main discussion points arising from the most recent Stations Company Council Meeting held on 3rd June 2025:

Sunday Working-concerns were raised regarding several alleged instances where staff have been instructed to work Sunday turns despite not being available to work. The company stated that they would investigate these instances further however reiterated that under current arrangements Sunday is voluntary falling outside of the working week.

Security Staff-concerns were raised regarding an apparent reduction of security staff at some stations. The company advised that whilst the overall numbers had not been reduced there was an on-going review that could entail the re-allocation of resources to an alternative location.

Revenue Response Officers (RRO)-an update was provided that the full recruitment of RRO staff will be completed by March 2026 following the expiration of the current TIL contract.

Dispatch Review-following several concerns regarding the lack of recognition of Dispatch Grades it was agreed that a joint working group would be established to consider these issues further.

E Learning-the issue of staff being required to conduct training with short notice interfering with their duties was raised. The company responded by stating that such training should not conflict with duties/breaks and requested that any issues are raised locally in the first instance.

Conflict Management Training-an update was provided that following an increase of both staff assaults and anti-social instances that the company are amending/adapting existing training courses for new entrants and existing staff.

Biohazard Payments-the company agreed to investigate the recent removal of the payment to staff at Valley Stations and will report back as soon as reasonably practicable.

Lone Working-following concerns raised regarding lone working at Cathays it was agreed that a meeting would be held involving both Local and Health & Safety reps to fully review this matter.

Dispatch Times at Stations-concerns were raised regarding several instances where Drivers have questioned departure times at stations owing to apparent disparities with the schedule cards issued to Drivers and the working timetable. The company will investigate this further but were of the view that this was a potential issue with the CIS system.
