Stories Around the “Fire”
LIGHT MACHINE: Skylab’s satellite entry into Portland Winter Light Festival 2020 will be focused around our storefront entrance. The viewers of the installation will be “outside” looking “in” to our space through a series of apertures strategically vignetting the scene. Playing with the public/private dynamic of the street experience, our theme of regeneration will be revealed and experienced through the perceivable qualities of light, shadow and color. The installation will use both analog and digital light sources, and 3D printed surfaces.
This is the third year creating a festive Silent Disco Dance Party at Portland’s World Trade Center. Fun Luv’n Silent Disco will simultaneously have three DJs performing live on independent audio channels, offering the silent disco dancers three musical adventures to choose from. Bring your friends and family down for the FUN LUV’N Silent Disco party every night at the World Trade Center Plaza!
Stories Around the Fire evokes the human tradition of gathering around fire to share warmth and wisdom through story. In these times, we recognize the importance of hearing unique stories from varied voices.
*Headphone rental requires $5 and valid ID*
Visit the hearth of Stories Around the Fire indoors on the second story of the World Trade Center and bear witness to a range of stories, viewpoints, and perspectives which are not often heard in Portland’s landscape.
