— ViceChancellor’s message Thank you for the generous contribution you have made to RMIT. Your gift has real world impact. When you give to RMIT you contribute to the future of our students, their families and the communities and industries they will in turn contribute to. Our students create, explore, research and design their way through their studies and then take their world-class experience far and wide. That’s why we’re passionate about our commitment to shaping the world, and it’s a passion we nurture in our current and future generations of thinkers and doers. By fostering a sense of shared purpose, responsibility and possibility, I believe we make a tangible difference to the world around us, and you help make that a reality.

Melburnians and it’s been heart-warming to feel their response to our call. The stories in this publication demonstrate the profound impacts of your gifts and the achievements you’ve helped to realise. I trust you are proud to be part of RMIT’s growing community of philanthropic supporters, I know I am. Please continue to work with us as we change the world one student at a time.

Indeed, philanthropy goes to the heart of RMIT. We first opened our doors more than 130 years ago thanks to the generosity of Francis Ormond, matched by the people of Melbourne. In 2017 we continued this great tradition by asking the people of Melbourne to once again share our vision to reinvent the future of the extraordinary Capitol Theatre. The Capitol is embedded in the memories of

Martin Bean CBE Vice-Chancellor and President
