Dear Gala Patrons,

On behalf of the Board of Directors at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington and Alaska (RMHC), I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to you for joining us at this year’s gala celebrating our 40th Anniversary. Your presence and generous support make this milestone celebration an unforgettable success.

This year marked an extraordinary chapter in our history, and it is only fitting that we honor a cherished partner, Seattle Children’s. For decades, Seattle Children’s has stood by our side, ensuring families in medical crisis receive the care, comfort, and community they deserve. We are incredibly proud to recognize their dedication and commitment, which has allowed us to extend our mission to more families and children in need.

Your continued generosity enables RMHC to provide vital services, allowing families to focus on what truly matters—the health and well-being of their children. As we celebrate this milestone and look toward the future, we are more committed than ever to expanding our impact, and it is only through the support of people like you that we can turn this vision into reality.

Thank you for being an essential part of our RMHC family. We look forward to sharing many more years of hope, healing, and community with you.

With deep appreciation,

Dear Gala Patrons,

I am extremely excited to welcome all of you to this year’s “House that Love Built” Gala in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington & Alaska. This year we celebrate a significant milestone— 40 years! Tonight’s gala is an opportunity to recognize our past, build on the present and focus on the future. Your unwavering support and faith in our mission has made the last 40 years in our journey of providing familycentered care a reality. Together we give families the gift of time— time to be together, time to heal and time to make memories. Your presence tonight means the world to us. THANK YOU!

For 40 years, RMHC Seattle has been a sanctuary for families navigating the most challenging times in their lives. Together, we have offered a home away from home, where families can focus on the healing of their children without worrying about where they will sleep or how they will afford a meal. The impact of your generosity is profound—it ensures that we can continue to provide this care, comfort, and community to families when they need it most.

At this year’s gala, we are honored to recognize Seattle Children’s for their partnership and dedication to family-centered care. Their commitment to working alongside us has allowed countless families to remain close to their children during critical treatments. The connection between our organizations ensures that families can focus on the most important thing: being together during a medical crisis. This shared mission is what makes our work possible, and we are deeply grateful for Seattle Children’s continued partnership.

The success of our gala and the ongoing support from patrons like you enable us to expand our impact, ensuring more families receive the compassionate care they deserve. Your contributions help families stay strong for their children, and that strength is a vital part of the healing process.

Thank you for being a part of the Ronald McDonald House Charities community and for your dedication to helping families when they need it most. We look forward to building an even brighter future together.

2024 FRED SCHULTZ SERVICE AWARD

Seattle Children’s

Tonight, we are honored to present the FRED SCHULTZ SERVICE AWARD to our dedicated partner, Seattle Children’s. This award, named after a long-time supporter of RMHC, recognizes extraordinary dedication to the care of our families. For 40 years, Seattle Children’s has stood by our side, providing exceptional medical care and unwavering support to families during their most challenging times.

Seattle Children’s has been instrumental in helping us create a compassionate and healing environment for the families we serve. Their commitment goes beyond medical treatment—they have been true partners in every aspect of our work. This collaboration has made a profound difference in the lives of countless children and their loved ones.

We are truly grateful for this partnership and proud to honor Seattle Children’s with the Fred Schultz Service Award. Together, we will continue this important work, supporting the families who are staying at the House tonight and far into the future.

Congratulations and THANK YOU!

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As we celebrate 40 years of partnership between Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington & Alaska and Seattle Children’s Hospital, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude for this enduring collaboration. Over the past four decades, we have worked side by side to provide comfort, healing, and hope to families facing some of their most challenging moments.

We are especially excited to be named the honoree at this year’s House That Love Built gala. This recognition reflects the incredible impact we’ve made together, and we are truly humbled by it. It serves as a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we unite around a shared purpose—caring for the patients and families who need us most.

Ronald McDonald House is more than just a place to stay—it is a lifeline for families, offering them a home away from home while their children receive specialized medical treatment. This support has allowed families to focus on what matters most: the health and recovery of their children. Together, we’ve fostered a compassionate community that not only addresses the physical needs of our patients but also nurtures the emotional and mental well-being of their families.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the families that Ronald McDonald House and Seattle Children’s serve. Your generosity and commitment make it possible for us to continue this vital work. Together, we will keep providing comfort and hope to families who need it most, ensuring that no family faces their challenges alone.

With sincere appreciation,

THE DAHL FAMILY

The Dahl family’s journey with Ronald McDonald House (RMHC) began more than eleven years ago when Christi and Brad discovered through an ultrasound that their soon-to-be-born daughter, Poppy, had a serious heart condition requiring immediate care after birth.

When the young family, with their one-year-old son, Crosby, arrived in Seattle to await Poppy’s birth, RMHC immediately relieved the stress of finding a place to stay. This allowed them to focus on Poppy’s care and raising young Crosby.

The House quickly became more than just a place to sleep—it became their home and community during a challenging time, enabling them to stay together through Poppy’s first months of life.

During this scary, unpredictable time, Seattle Children’s gave the Dahls hope, and RMHC provided them with a home.

Now, eleven years later, with four children—Crosby, Edelweiss, Magnolia, and Poppy—the Dahls remain part of the Ronald McDonald House family as Poppy continues to receive care at Seattle Children’s. The House remains their sanctuary, keeping their family united and strong.

The Dahls embody the spirit of Ronald McDonald House by always putting family first. As we celebrate 40 years of caring for families, they truly represent our past, present, and future. We are excited to introduce them to you tonight!

40 years of caring

The Seattle Ronald McDonald House opened its doors to 20 families in 1983. In 2003, two new facilities were built, including 10 self-contained apartment units for bone marrow transplant patients, and in 2022 expanded with 25 additional rooms and new common spaces. We now serve 105 families per night.

Families come from across the Northwest and around the globe to receive medical care for their seriously ill child at nearby Seattle Children’s. Staying for extended periods of time wouldn’t be possible without the Ronald McDonald House.

We help families stay together in the most difficult times, playing a key role in supporting family-centered care at Seattle Children’s. The Ronald McDonald House partners with families and their care team, providing comfort, care, and community, so they can focus on caring for their sick child.

Through the Family Meal Program, you can partner with us to fill our refrigerators with 150 healthy, homemade dinners daily for our residents. Whether you send a donation or sponsor a meal and cook onsite, you are providing comforting sustenance that reminds families they are not alone.

Celebrating our past, present and future

Doctors told us to prepare to live in Seattle for up to two years for Matthew’s treatment. We couldn’t afford that. If we hadn’t been able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, we would have lived in our car.
