SHERATON GRAND SEATTLE
Benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Western Washington & Alaska
On behalf of the Board of Directors of Ronald McDonald House of Western Washington & Alaska, it is our honor to welcome you to this year’s Gala. Tonight, we gather as a community united by a shared belief—that every family deserves the comfort, care, and strength of home when their child is facing medical challenges.
The power of this evening is not found in any single moment, but in the collective spirit of generosity and compassion in this room. Together, we create more than shelter—we create a home filled with love, hope, and healing for thousands of families each year.
It is with great pride that we recognize our fellow board member, Barb Johnson, as this year’s Heart of the House Honoree. As a proud McDonald’s Owner/Operator, Barb leads with her heart in everything she does, extending comfort and kindness in ways that ripple far beyond our walls. Her steadfast dedication has touched countless families and inspired all of us to do more, give more, and be more for those we serve.
Thank you for joining us tonight. Your presence, commitment, and support ensure that families never face their most difficult days alone. Together, we are the heart of the House.
With gratitude,
MARK STERRETT Co-President, Board of Directors
Ronald McDonald House of Western Washington & Alaska
LIZ ORTMAN Co-President, Board of Directors
Ronald McDonald House of Western Washington & Alaska
Dear Friends,
It is with great joy that I welcome you to this year’s Gala on behalf of Ronald McDonald House of Western Washington & Alaska. Tonight, we come together not just to celebrate, but to honor the extraordinary impact you make on the lives of families every single day, and to continue building on the impact we can have with your strong support.
Your generosity—whether as a board member, patron, donor, or sponsor— creates ripples far beyond these walls. You build community, bring comfort, and inspire hope for families facing some of their hardest moments. The strength of this ripple effect has never been greater, and it reminds us that when we come together, we truly are stronger.
Because of you, parents remain close to their children in the hospital. Because of you, siblings play and grow in a supportive environment. Because of you, families find a sense of home. Because of you, families remain at the center of what we do.
On behalf of our Board members, staff, volunteers, and—most importantly— our families: thank you. Tonight is a celebration of all we have achieved together, an affirmation of the compassion that continues to light the way forward, and a recommitment of the work that must still be done.
With deep appreciation,
DENIZ SATIR Chief Executive Officer Ronald McDonald House of Western Washington & Alaska

This year, our honoree award was renamed The Heart of the House Award. This new name carries forward the legacy of Fred Schultz, whose vision and generosity helped build the foundation of Ronald McDonald House in Seattle. Fred believed that the House should be more than walls and rooms—it should be a place overflowing with love, comfort, and care for every family who needs it. His spirit lives on in this award, which recognizes those who carry forward a deep love of this mission and do so with the same deep compassion and devotion.
This year, we could not imagine a more fitting honoree than Barb Johnson. As an RMHC Board Member and devoted McDonald’s owner/operator, Barb has poured her heart into this mission in ways both big and small— through her leadership, her kindness, and most of all, through the way she simply loves. She loves the families we serve. She loves her community. And she loves the mission that keeps us all connected.
Barb reminds us that the true heart of the House is not found in bricks or mortar, but in the people who make sure every family feels at home. Tonight, we honor her with deep gratitude for the countless ways she has led with love, and for the joy and comfort she has brought into the lives of so many.
Barb, congratulations and thank you for being the “Heart” of this House.
It is truly humbling to be honored with this year’s Heart of the House Award. As both a McDonald’s Owner/Operator and a proud member of the Ronald McDonald House of Western Washington & Alaska Board, this recognition means so much to me—because this mission that puts families first, is deeply personal.
Every day in my restaurants, I see the incredible power of community. Our customers are not just guests—they are neighbors, friends, and families who care about one another. That same spirit is what I find inside the House. Families arrive in moments of great challenge, and they are met with comfort, support, and the assurance that they are not alone.
For me, the connection between McDonald’s, Ronald McDonald House, and the community is seamless. Whether it’s a Happy Meal box reminding customers of Ronald McDonald House, a donation through the kiosk, or a family who shares their own story of how the House touched their lives, I am reminded that we are all part of something bigger. Together, we extend hospitality beyond our restaurants and into the lives of families who need it most.
Being in service—whether through my business or through Ronald McDonald House—is not just part of what I do, it is who I am. I believe that when we show up with open hearts, we help strengthen the fabric of our community. Ronald McDonald House and all of you embody that truth every single day.
Thank you for supporting this mission alongside me. It is an honor to serve, to give, and to be part of this extraordinary family.
With gratitude,
BARB JOHNSON A Proud McDonald’s Owner/Operator
Connor Pearson, age 13. Connor and his family lived at the House for 10 months in 2024.
This year’s Fund Our Family story shines a light on the strength and courage of one remarkable family who found hope and healing at Ronald McDonald House—the Pearson family from Walla Walla, Washington. They are one of the hundreds of families we serve each year at the Seattle House.
When Connor’s parents received the heartbreaking news of Connor’s brain tumor, their world changed in an instant. They traveled hundreds of miles from their hometown to Seattle so Connor, then 12 years old, could receive life-saving treatment at Seattle Children’s. What followed was a journey no family ever prepares for: three brain surgeries, months of chemotherapy and radiation, and a 10-month stay at the House.
Through it all, Connor’s dad, Jim, stayed by his side at the House, while mom Heather and brother Layne kept the home fires burning, visiting when they could and holding the family together across the miles.
The House became more than just a place to stay; it became their community. A place where hot meals, compassionate staff, and the simple comforts of home carried them through the hardest days. Surrounded by care and encouragement, Connor and his family found strength not only in medicine, but in the healing power of love and community.
Today, Connor and Jim are back home, reunited with family, and filled with gratitude for the support that made their long journey possible. Their story is one of resilience, hope, and the overwhelming belief that no family should face a child’s medical crisis alone.
When you give tonight, you are giving families like Connor’s the gift of home, comfort, and togetherness during their toughest battles. You are helping them find the strength to keep going.

With 105 rooms in Seattle and 34 in Anchorage, we keep families close to care and surrounded by support during one of the hardest times of their lives.

Beyond free housing, families receive meals, everyday essential like linens and toiletries, and the comfort of connecting with others who understand what they’re going through. Volunteers, donors, and partners create and sustain this compassionate community so no family faces their child’s illness alone.

We are proud to support RMHC because during a time of great stress, the last thing parents should have to worry about is where they are going to rest their head.

A patient with a million questions. A cancer care team determined to find every answer.
When Ino was diagnosed with leukemia, his expert care team turned to the latest therapies to guide treatment. Today, Ino’s natural curiosity remains a steady force — just like the determination that drives his cancer care team to ask questions, seek answers, and push what’s possible. Through life-saving research and expert care, Seattle Children’s strives to provide hope, care, and cures for every child.
Seattle Children’s is pleased to support Ronald McDonald House Charities® and this year’s RMHC Gala.

The strength of our community comes from the people and families who call it home. As part of this community, Northwest Building proudly supports the essential services that Ronald McDonald House provides.
Thank you Ronald McDonald House, we are grateful for the impact you make in our community!
Families at the Ronald McDonald House spend many hours at the hospital and in doctors’ offices, fighting for their child’s health. They are exhausted, struggle to get through each day, and truly need the support of the Ronald McDonald House community.
Through the Family Meal Program, you can partner with us to fill our refrigerators with 150 healthy, homemade dinners daily for our residents. Whether you send a donation or sponsor a meal and cook onsite, you are providing comforting sustenance that reminds families they are not alone.
We invite you to visit our website by scanning the QR code below, or email volunteering@rmhcseattle.org to learn more about our Family Meal Program opportunities.
Our Therapy Dog Program brings smiles, comfort, and calm to families and staff through visits with certified volunteer therapy dog teams. In times of stress and uncertainty, these gentle companions offer a healing presence, sparking laughter, easing anxiety, and creating moments of connection.
Want to get involved? Email us at volunteering@rmhcseattle.org to learn more about the Therapy Dog Program.
The gift you make tonight could go even further. Many employers match charitable donations, which means your support for families at Ronald McDonald House can be doubled, or even tripled, just by submitting a simple request.
It’s one of the easiest ways to increase your impact. If your company offers a matching program, the generosity you show tonight could cover twice as many meals, nights of stay, or moments of comfort for families.
Don’t leave that impact on the table. Check with your employer after the gala and watch your gift grow. Together, we can multiply the difference you make for families who need it most.
Please email kendra@rmhcseattle.org to learn more about Matching Gifts.
Giving tonight feels amazing! Want to feel this good every month? Join the Comfort Crew, our monthly giving community. With a simple recurring gift, you’ll provide steady support that keeps families close to their child’s medical care all year long.
Just $12.50 a month for a year covers one night of stay for a family. Step it up to $50 and you’ve covered four nights; $125 covers ten, and larger monthly gifts can underwrite weeks of housing, meals, and essentials that families rely on. Whatever amount feels right to you, your generosity grows into something extraordinary.
Join us tonight and carry the joy of giving forward every month. Families will feel your support long after the gala ends, and you’ll feel great knowing you’re always making a difference.
Please visit our website by scanning the QR code below and learn more about Monthly Giving.
“ You all gave us stability while we felt like our world was falling apart. Not having to worry about where we were going to stay while Teddy was being cared for so far from home allowed us to focus on his care and healing journey. We can never thank you all enough for everything you did for our family.”
–A Grateful House Family
While they are not in the ballroom tonight, we are grateful to the following individuals and companies for their support. By contributing to Fund Our Families, their generosity helps keep families close during life’s most challenging moments and ensures they have a safe, caring place to stay together. We are truly grateful for their commitment to our community of care.

Every family that arrives at the House has a unique set of needs, and we depend on volunteers and volunteer groups to help us meet those. Whether it’s cooking warm chocolate chip cookies to boost families’ spirits, taking a shift greeting them at the front desk, or helping organize food donation, volunteers play an important role in daily operations. Our group volunteer opportunities provide a great way for your family, work team, friends, church members, or service organization to support families in medical crisis. Families will directly benefit from your acts of kindness, and your group will benefit by doing good work together.
We invite you to visit our website by scanning the QR code below, or email volunteering@rmhcseattle.org to learn more about our individual and group volunteering opportunities.
We sincerely appreciate the support of our auction donors! Your contributions play a vital role in making the evening engaging, memorable, and a true celebration of generosity.

There are many tax-efficient ways to support families at the Ronald McDonald House beyond writing a check. Gifts of stock, contributions through your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), and even cryptocurrency can all be powerful ways to make a difference.
You can also donate a vehicle—car, truck, boat, or motorcycle—and we’ll handle the pickup and paperwork. Each of these options provides valuable resources for families, while often offering unique tax advantages for you.
Whether it’s an appreciated asset, a vehicle you no longer use, or funds already set aside in a DAF, your gift helps provide nights of comfort, warm meals, and a community of care. Explore the option that’s right for you— and know that every choice makes life easier for families when they need it most.
