Regular exercise is a key component to preventing cancer

e all know that exercise is a good thing — a necessary thing to live a long and healthy life. The most obvious benefits of exercise are reduced weight, improved heart function and reduced risk of diabetes and other diseases. But exercise has also been directly linked to cancer prevention as well as improved quality of life. “We know that exercise is good for us, and the general reasons why exercise is good,” says Dr. Santosh Rao, medical director of integrative medicine and a medical oncologist at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert. “But there are other, much more specific reasons why exercise is good for very specific groups of patients.” E X E R C I S E | 2
