A LETTER FROM CARSON
In 2017, I founded the Carson Wentz AO1 Foundation with the mission to “uplift individuals and communities around the world by demonstrating God’s love for His people.” I realized that I am blessed to have a platform that I can use to help and serve the Philadelphia community and people around the world. Little did I know the remarkable amount of support the foundation and I would receive. Thanks to blessings from God, this foundation has grown leaps and bounds; and I am so grateful for the remarkable contributions so many people have made to advance our mission.
We are honored to be back for another Charity Softball Game. Thank you to my teammates for their participation, the wonderful volunteers and sponsors who make the event possible and all of the fans for being here tonight. EAGLES TRAINING CAMP EXPERIENCE
The Outdoor Ministry aims to serve those with prior or present physical challenges, life-threatening illnesses, and the underserved to “foster a genuine passion for the outdoors and to bring people closer to God through discipleship.” This is accomplished through two programs: Mountain Movers and Camp Conquerors. Mountain Movers provides various hunting and fishing experiences, and Camp Conquerors is an outdoor youth program with curriculum designed to develop outdoor skills, improve self-worth, and establish healthy relationships.

Serving others, while demonstrating God’s love, is an incredibly powerful way to uplift people and communities. We were amazed by the remarkable nominations. Today we are thrilled to recognize three individuals who are leaving their mark and greatly impacting others!

katie spencer
Katie has been dedicated to helping others most of her life, which gives her a sense of purpose, belonging and pride. She doesn’t let her Down syndrome diagnosis deter her zest for life, commitment to her community or concern for others. For more than 20 years, she has volunteered with Variety, The Children’s Charity. Katie earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award and was chosen to represent Variety at events, playing a role in helping raise over $30,000. To serve her community further, Katie joined Corpus Christi Church’s “Helping Other People Everyday” program where she cares for seniors and helps prepare meals. She also is a Best Buddies ambassador and works to raise awareness, funds and opportunities for individuals with disabilities. When Katie isn’t volunteering, she enjoys being involved in Special Olympics by competing in six sports!
buddy osborn
Buddy Osborn is a Kensington native and a prize-winning boxer who served five years in federal prison for racketeering charges. He first heard about Jesus while behind bars and a couple years later Buddy said, “I gave my life to Christ.” With his new-found
faith, he started Rock Ministries of Philadelphia. In his hometown, he’s created a safe haven to help youth who are plagued with hunger and the temptation to deal drugs and join gangs. Several nights a week, up to 100 boys and girls are provided the opportunity to learn boxing and grappling, receive homework help, be tutored, and hear from Scripture. What’s most rewarding to Buddy is helping kids understand that God has a purpose for each of them. The ministry has expanded to offer church services for youth and their families, a women’s crisis center, a wellness center, missionary homes and shelters for young men.
john burke
John Burke, a 17-year-old junior and varsity basketball player at Holy Ghost Prep, has always been close with his younger brother Tony who has autism. When a camp Tony enjoyed attending closed, it was disappointing to the family,
however, John saw an opportunity. In a few weeks, he created and presented a plan to the school president, director of college guidance and principal to hold a five-week basketball program at Holy Ghost Prep. He knew the program would offer kids with disabilities a chance to have fun and learn, but that it would also be a way to get his teammates involved in helping others. While taking four advanced placement classes and two honors classes, he was able to coordinate all program logistics, register 40 kids with special needs to participate and recruit 40 classmates to volunteer. Given its success, he has plans to expand and continue the basketball program.
