WHO ARE WE?

The Business of the Arts workshop is hosted by the Ron Joyce Centre for Business Studies/Dept of Commerce at Mount Allison University. This year the workshop will be opened up to students from across the Atlantic Provinces, plus the Maple League Universities

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

Since 2016, the RJCBS/DOC has hosted in-house workshops for MtA students focused on the interdisciplinary nature of our school. Now that the pandemic is generally behind us, we are excited to host our first intercollegiate workshop. We hope to provide a fun, engaging workshop and competition, developing students’ entrepreneurial skills.

From Friday, October 20 to Sunday, October 22, 2023 participants will go through the steps of creating a start-up venture within the arts and culture sector. From idea generation to pitching the business, students will work in groups through guided workshops, panel discussions, and guest speakers. By the end of the workshop, groups will have developed an artistic entrepreneurial venture and compete against others to win cash prizes.

WHY TAKE PART?

Participants will leave the workshop having made new connections, developed new skills, and expanded upon their learning. And then there are the prizes. Cash prizes for top 3 winners, PLUS a chance to win a scholarship to the Masters of Business Creation program at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business!
