Welcome to our latest issue Batteries International! As we creep towards Christmas we’ve got some cracking articles for you! Our cover story looks at the changing world of ultracapacitors. Ideas that they are too expensive and too much a niche product are disappearing as their quality goes up and price goes down. They will soon be everywhere in applications as diverse as automotive for stop-start and grid balancing. Sadly, this issue we have to pay tribute to Michael Mayer the key figure in bringing the ELBC conferences together and a distinguished veteran of the lead battery industry who died in November. We look at his life and achievements.
