2020

Dear charter members of the Rotary Club of Rizal Premier,

It is an honor to welcome the Rotary Club of Rizal Premier, Rizal, Philippines into the Rotary family.

The chartering of a new club is always exciting. Your club has been created because you and your fellow members have something in common: a desire to make a difference through service. Each individual brings something unique to the club in skills, passions, and talents. You will feel connected not only to your local community, but also to the international community of Rotarians Doing Good in the World.

The success of a club depends on many factors, including strong, active members and a motivation to serve others. Rotary will provide you with so many opportunities to make a difference to make history by ending polio, to educate the children of the world, to feed the hungry, and to meet the needs of local and global communities. By working together, we are capable of accomplishing great things.

The possibilities for a new club are endless. I hope you approach your Rotary membership with excitement and energy, and establish yourselves within your community as a shining example of service and fellowship. Congratulations again to the charter Rotarians of Rizal Premier. I look forward to having your club join me as Rotary Connects the World.

Kindest regards, Mark Daniel Maloney

As the Charter President, you play a significant role in developing the fellowship and service efforts of your club. You will not be undertaking this alone as you will have the assistance of your fellow Rotarians, the members of Rizal Premier in the task of building into a club of great strength.

There are many resources and people available to assist you and your club. Please see the attached listing of contacts at our office at Rotary International as a starting point. We ask that you continue to work with your New Club Advisor who will remain in this role for three years. The web is a fantastic resource for all Rotarians, and I am sure you will find this so. Further, we recommend that you download Be a Vibrant Club Your Club Leadership Plan (#245). Our Story

For many of us, apart from our families, Rotary is closest to our hearts. Much as we love and care for the family, Rotary loves and cares for the community. Much as we give and share to every member of the family, creating a loving and enduring relationship, Rotary gives and shares to the community creating a positive and lasting change.

We believe in the greatest Humanitarian Organization of all time and that is ROTARY. While Rotary Clubs are thriving in Rizal Province, it did not stop us from forming a new club especially when there are still communities that needs to be served. The opportunity to start a new Rotary Club was right in front of us. And so, with fourteen Rotarians to start with, and with our familial bond, loving and caring hearts, giving and sharing hands, forming a new rotary club was our best option and ours for the taking. Fully determined, equipped with a common purpose, it was not long after that Rotary Club of Rizal Premier was born. Rotary’s vision of:

TOGETHER WE SEE A WORLD WHERE PEOPLE UNITE AND TAKE ACTION TO CREATE LASTING CHANGE ACROSS THE GLOBE

OUR COMMUNITIES AND IN OURSELVES

is exactly how we see it. We finally realized that we could be the Rotary Club that we have always wanted and were meant to be

a club where members are equal, that no one is above anyone

a club where members are not just appreciated as members or treated as friends but members whom we can call “family”

a club where service is truly above self, creating an impact, a positive and lasting change, on the lives of people in the communities that we serve

We can now look forward to a more meaningful and more fulfilling Rotary Life. One step at a time, starting today.

Ticman present, together with District Vice-Chair for Membership PP Ruby Reyes, Deputy District Secretary (DDS) and District Training Team Member PP Jeng Liban, Special Executive Assistant to the Governor (SEAG) and New Club Adviser PP John Barredo. Honored to have not just one but four Sponsor Clubs, RC East Rizal, RC Cainta, RC Lakeshore Rizal and RC Suburban East Rizal.

Several name options were presented to the District Membership Team and we finally arrived with a name that impeccably describes the strength and vibrancy of our Club, ROTARY CLUB OF RIZAL PREMIER.

Starting off with 14 Rotarians, former and existing, we are determined to strengthen our Club with the addition of 5 new members. Six (6) more to gain charter strength. However, the challenge is made even greater, to be a super club of at least 30 charter members. Not to brag, but challenge is accepted.

Fourteen (14) dedicated and passionate members decided to move on and form a new Club. We started organizing 23 August 2019 with a series of Informational Meetings and each time we meet, new personalities, private individuals and business professionals started joining the new Club. By then, we have decided to name our Club as Rotary Club of Rizal Premier. As early as 18 September 2019, we had 18 members, enough to conduct an election of Charter Officers.

We did not stop at 18, as Charter strength is 25. However, we did not stop at 25 either, as we were challenged to be a Super Club of at least 30 Charter Members. The challenge was of course accepted.

By 11 October 2019, Rotary Club of Rizal Premier became a Super Club of District 3800 and of Rotary International. Still unofficial, as we have yet to submit all charter documents, and that we did a week after. Due to external forces, we had a few delays, but all is good as the charter documents were finally endorsed to the District and then to Rotary International on 17 November 2019.

For reasons beyond our control, we patiently waited and waited. And by the onset of the year 2020, the waiting was finally over.

We now have every reason to celebrate this memorable event in the history of our club, a momentous event and an opportunity to introduce our Club to the local community and Rotary Clubs of District 3800 and beyond.

MONALIZA B. CABITAC Charter President RY 2019 - 20

BRIEF PROFILE

Monaliza “Mona” Cabitac was born on September 19, 1962 to a family of six (6) and was singlehandedly raised by Nanay, Carmen Espiritu Baltazar but loved Tatay, Francisco Del Rosario Baltazar, just as much.

She is very much a Catholic having been raised in the company of Dominican Sisters and Priests. She attended early education at St. Catherine’s Academy, primary and secondary education at Dominican College and graduated at the University of Santo Tomas with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition in 1983. A Licensed Professional in Nutrition and Dietetics also in 1983.

She began her professional career as a Food Checker at Quezon City Sports Club; as a Dietitian at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital; and finally found a career she loved best, that of a Nutritionist Consultant, a Fitness Instructor, Sales and Operations Manager all rolled into one at Slimmer’s World International. A career she loved for seventeen (17) years prior to joining Government Service as a Legislative Staff and served for another twelve (12) years.

Rotary is not new to her. She started her Rotary Years as a spouse to Past President Fernando R. Cabitac, Jr. Having the passion in everything that she does, she was tapped to make the Club Goals and Plans, Audio Visual Presentation, weekly bulletins and other printed forms. As passionate as she is, she became a full pledged Rotarian in 2014, President Elect in 2015, and became an All Star President in 2016. She continued her passion for Rotary in 2017 and then, everything else is history.

MONALIZA B. CABITAC Charter President RY 2019 - 20 INAUGURAL ADDRESS

Rightly said, this is not my first. With due respect to our Champion Governor, I would just like to mention that during the first time, my whole family was with me and so they were also introduced. At that time, I was very much married for 27 years, hindi na ngayon kasi, 31 years na kaming married. At that time also, our kids: JV, then, was a public servant, NOW, he is married to his ex girlfriend of 8 years and come June 2020, I will be “Lola”; our unica hija, Janine, then, was a medicine student, NOW, is a Doctor of Medicine, taking up her Residency at PGH and is engaged to be married next year to her boyfriend of 12 years; and Bunso, Thirdy was in his early years of Law proper and will graduate this June. His girlfriend of 3 years is in Canada and hinted on petitioning him. Hmmm I love my family and I Love how our story unfolds.

Much as I love my family, the same goes to my family of Rotary. There is not a day gone by that I do not think of Rotary, it’s in me already. I love how through Rotary, we are able to help those who needed it most. I love how through Rotary, we are able to serve and serve above self. I love how through Rotary, we can make people smile with our free cleft palate / harelip operation; we can help people see the beauty of God’s creation through our vision screening and cataract operation; we can create opportunities with our “growing economies” project and change people’s lives. It has of course, changed mine.

To my fellow charter members, you are the heart of Rotary Club of Rizal Premier. Thank you for accepting the challenge to serve and serve above self. Rotary Club of Rizal Premier will not be Rotary Club of Rizal Premier without you. Together, Let us begin our beautiful Rotary story. As diverse as we are, we can actually build a community. We have an assessor, an engineer, an architect, contractor, doctor, dentist, nurse, educator and youth / NGO advocates. That is, of course, a foresight of what we can actually do. I pray that you find Rotary as fulfilling and as meaningful as I did. And I have said this before, Rotary Club of Rizal Premier is not about me. It’s about US! Let us stay connected, take action, create lasting change. Above all, enjoy Rotary.

Good Evening!

As what our Charter President said, Rotary Club of Rizal Premier was bound to happen. And during the challenging stages of the charter process, there are a number of people that we wish to acknowledge and recognize for simply believing that we deserve to have a Rotary Club of our own and be called Rotarians.

CP Jess Tan, Chairman for Club Extension for facilitating the Chartering, SEAG/NCA/PP John Barredo who’s been with us from day 1; DDS/PP Jeng Liban for the conduct of 2 Rotary 101 forum and played an active role in the reconciliation process; Vice Chair for Membership PP Ruby Reyes, PDG Rudy San Felipe who suggested that “we might as well” and District Chair for Membership PDG Louie Ticman who stood with us every step of the way.

PP Fernando R. Cabitac, Jr. doing the all important task of Introducing Charter President Monaliza B. Cabitac, his wife Charter President Monaliza B. Cabitac delivering her Inaugural Speech

We believe in Doing Good in the World and we definitely would want to a part of that powerful force that has transformed millions of lives around the globe. Our commitmen to become an EREY and Sustaining Club stands.

Priviledged to have ChP Jack Rodriguez of RC Manila grace our event and deliver an impromptu speech DS Dan Santos for the Introduction of Keynote Speaker Keynote Speaker and District 3800 District Governor Nelson M. Aspe Token of Appreciation for DG Nelson M. Aspe and DGL Mila Aspe with PP Fernando R. Cabitac, Jr. & CP Mona Cabitac As we believe in The Rotary Foundation, at least Four (4) Rotarians pledged to become Paul Harris Fellow (PHF). PP Fernando R. Cabitac, Jr. Rtn. Ma. Geraldine R. Marte, PP Omar G. Lacanilao & CP Monaliza B. Cabitac. By the responsibility vested in me, by Rotary International and by the Rotary Club of Rizal Premier, this Charter Presentation and Induction Ceremonies of Rotary Club of Rizal Premier is now adjourned.

The highlights of this undertaking includes but not limited to the following goals and thrusts:

to maintain charter strength taking into consideration member diversity (women and young professionals);

To conduct significant service projects on the Causes of Rotary;

To become a 100% Sustaining Member Club;

At least Five (5) Rotarians to become PHF;

To promote / increase awareness of Rotary

ensure continuity in leadership and develop leaders beyond Club level

We believe that with your wholehearted support and with the guidance of SEAG / NCA PP John G. Barredo and AG Melbert B. Reyes, our Club will be able to achieve our goals for Rotary Year 2019 20.
