lthough it is not a modern-day metropolis like Istanbul, Urfa is a city of highly valuable lands both historically and spiritually thanks to the nations, cultures and civilizations it witnessed and its connections with the Abrahamic religions over the course of time. Moreover, it’s sometimes called “the city of prophets”. According to Arab historians, Urfa is one of the eighteen cities founded right after Noah’s Flood, which gives the city a history of 300.000 years. According to the archeological finds, the city can be dated back as far as 12000 years.
Urfa -belki İstanbul gibi bir metropol olmasa da- tarihindeki milletler, kültürler, medeniyetler ve semavi dinlerle olan bağı nedeniyle ruhani olarak da çok değerli bir şehir. Hatta “peygamberler şehri” olarak da anılır. Arabistan’daki tarihçilere göre Urfa, Nuh Tufanı’ndan sonra kurulan 18 şehirden biri olarak geçiyor. Bu da şehri 300.000 yıl öncesine götürüyor. Arkeolojik kalıntılar ise şehre 12.000 yıllık bir geçmiş veriyor.
