2022/23 UNIFORM GUIDE

An RVS school uniform is required for all students and we wear them with pride!

Students must always, at minimum, meet the following uniform requirements, however are welcome to dress in a more formal uniform should they choose (i.e., wear the full-dress uniform on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday).

UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS: Uniforms must be tucked in, tidy and clean at all times.

Students are not allowed to wear hats of any kind while in the building.

Students are not allowed to wear any non-RVS sweaters/sweat shirts while in the building.

Please label everything your child brings to school.

Be sure to send outerwear and footwear that is appropriate for all weather conditions.

Modesty shorts should be worn beneath all tunics, skirts and kilts. These can be purchased from top marks or at any retail store.

Families should watch for emailed requests from the classroom teachers and check the online RVS master calendar for dates requiring changes to the uniform.

RVS students must have at least one piece of tartan or a current RVS crest showing at all times.

STANDARD UNIFORM: The standard uniform is to be worn on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

FULL DRESS UNIFORM: The full-dress uniform must be worn every Wednesday, as well as for the first day of school, concerts, assemblies, field trips, photo days and other special occasions as communicated from RVS. GYM STRIP: (REQUIRED FOR GRADE 3 – 6 STUDENTS ONLY) The gym strip is used for physical education classes for grades 3 - 6 only. It is to be kept at school in a cloth drawstring bag during the week and brought home regularly for laundering.

SUMMER UNIFORM: (OPTIONAL) Summer uniform items (i.e., shorts, dress shorts and crested short sleeve button down shirt) are available for purchase and can be worn throughout the year when warmer weather allows.

CASUAL UNIFORM FRIDAYS: (OPTIONAL) On Fridays, students have the option to wear their standard uniform or choose from the casual uniform pieces. Note, the tracksuits and leggings must be worn with the RVS crested t-shirt or polo shirt.

ACCEPTABLE FOOTWEAR Please note footwear is not purchased through top marks. All students must have: One pair of formal black dress shoes.

One pair of indoor running shoes with non-marking soles.

Appropriate outdoor footwear (no flip flops).

Students are also required to wear navy dress socks or navy tights/knee-high socks with their standard and formal uniforms. White socks can be worn on Fridays. No colourful socks please.

Please note: Gym strips should be brought home weekly to be washed and then returned.

Students require non-marking athletic shoes for gym class.
