“I ride it up and down Main Street,” Richard said on a recent visit to the RiverStone Health Worden Clinic.

“It’s the best way to get around town. This is a lifesaver for me.”

Richard grew up in Worden, graduated from Huntley Project High School in 1960 and worked in construction, as an electrician and a rural mail carrier.

He still tends a big garden and generously shares his harvest of sweet corn, tomatoes and other produce with his neighbors. He likes to keep busy, but he isn’t able to drive around his hometown like he used to.

Amanda Gallagher, MSN, RN, Worden Clinic manager, saw that Richard needed a way to stay active in his small hometown. When she suggested using a three-wheeler to get exercise, he liked the idea.

Another patient had insurance, but no money for the copays required for his prescriptions. The Client Support Fund ensured that he got his medicine.

RiverStone Health Foundation is thankful for our wonderful donor friends who make it possible for us to grant requests to assist patients like Richard.

The Client Support Fund relies entirely on private donations.

Many RiverStone Health patients have very limited finances and physical disabilities that restrict their mobility.

To improve their safety and quality of life, the Client Support Fund has furnished hand splints, wheelchair ramps, shower chairs and raised toilet seats.

Gifts of Hope brings holiday cheer to local families

ue to the generosity of RiverStone Health staff, community supporters and local businesses, more than $10,500 was raised for 2023’s Gifts of Hope.

With these funds, we purchased more than 1,000 gifts for 124 homeless or at-risk children and some of our own patients and clients.
