Lake Albert is one of Wagga Wagga’s most popular attractions, great for walkers, runners, cyclists and skippers on the water. The sealed, well lit walking track loops around the lake, passing by a wetland, jetty and picnic benches to take in the serenity. Make the most of your trip and tie in a picnic or visit one of the events held on the water or at Apex Park. Extend your journey and link in with the Wiradjuri Trail.

Pomingalarna Reserve is a bushland reserve located 10 minutes from our city’s CBD. “Pomi”, as the locals call it, hosts multiple sporting events throughout the year, such as trail marathons and endurance racing. The reserve is a thrillseekers delight and a haven for those who love to mountain bike. Pomi has three marked trails with various levels of difficulties from an easy 3.6km trail, the popular blue 13km trail and a purple rambo 7km trail. Horse riders are encouraged to use the fire trails.

Experience natural beauty and discover urban delights all in one journey. This trail begins on the Wiradjuri Trail on top of the Murrumbidgee River levee bank with multiple attractions along the way. Stop in at the popular Wagga Beach to admire water views, enjoy a barbeque picnic or go for a quick dip. Marrambidya Wetland will greet you with an abundance of wildlife above and below the water. This stunning 20-hectare reserve features interactive story telling devices, art works, a Wiradjuri healing place and bike fix-up station (just in case you get any punctures along the way).

Located in the heart of the city, the Wollundry Lagoon is the perfect spot to relax or enjoy a pleasant stroll or cycle. Along the loop you will be at an arm’s length to arts, culture and history in the Civic Centre precinct. Stop in and see one of the free exhibitions or pack a picnic to enjoy by the banks of the lagoon or under a shady tree in the Victory Memorial Gardens.

From the hustle of the CBD to the feathered peacocks, this route will take you straight through the centre of the city, up and over the railway line and straight to the Botanic Gardens. As well as the florals, the gardens are home to a free zoo and aviary, a miniature railway and numerous playgrounds and picnic locations. The gardens are an open space which invites you to explore the area on foot or on two wheels. Be sure to stop by one of the museums or heritage centres along the way.

The Wiradjuri Trail is a 42 kilometre loop around our city inviting you to explore the river banks, hill tops and everything in between. The track extends across many of our city’s significant Wiradjuri places and connects all of the city’s trails mentioned in this guide.
