The City of Wagga Wagga Seniors Festival is a 10-day long celebration, designed to thank, celebrate and recognise older people for the role they play and the contributions they make to our community. Events such as these ensure the City of Wagga Wagga continues to be a liveable community – one where residents both young and old have access to, and can participate in, activities and events that assist with their ongoing health, wellbeing and happiness. The City of Wagga Wagga is proud to fund and support local festivities that promote positive attitudes towards older people. The festival is made possible through the various collaborative partnerships formed each year to deliver a diverse program of activities and events that assist individuals to remain active, healthy and connected. Transformed from disused treatment ponds, the wetland now provides habitat for migratory and non-migratory birds, water insects, frogs, fish, reptiles and mammals such as the locally threatened Squirrel Glider. Take part in a guided stroll around 2km of walking tracks and learn how the site has evolved to become Wagga’s newest eco-attraction. Note: Participants are required to wear fully enclosed footwear. Unlike age and genetics, certain health and lifestyle factors associated with Alzheimer’s disease risk may be controlled.
