ABOUT THIS GUIDE

PROGRAM KEY DATES

This guide is for businesses and other organisations with an interest in tourism and events in Wagga Wagga and surrounding areas. It contains information on the City of Wagga Wagga’s Wagga Tourism Partner Program 2017-18 (‘the Program’), running from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018.

The Program provides businesses and other organisations with an opportunity to be involved in tourism marketing initiatives as well as industry workshops and events, coordinated by the City of Wagga Wagga’s Visitor Economy and Events team.

Note: The Program is open to applications year-round.

Please bear in mind by joining late, your business may not be included in some publications such as the Visitor Guide.

Partners joining after Monday 1 January, 2018 will pay 50% of the rate applicable to their business, see page 9 for pricing details.

WHAT WE DO MARKETING

What’s On

The City of Wagga Wagga’s Visitor Economy and Events team promote Wagga Wagga and surrounding areas through marketing activities involving both print and digital media.

A quarterly publication, the printed What’s On is produced seasonally and features events in the city and highlights from the surrounding area.

The following pages detail many of these avenues.

The guide is printed and distributed within the city and wider region. A monthly email newsletter keeps events and the What’s On guide front-of-mind for both locals and visitors.

PUBLICATIONS Visitor Guide

Conference + Function Venues Guide

The Wagga Wagga + Surrounds Visitor Guide is an annual publication, released around August each year to coincide with the start of the Program.

A new-look Conference + Function Venues Guide will be released in spring 2017.

A major promotional tool, the guide is distributed to key Visitor Information Centres located throughout NSW, VIC, ACT, SA and QLD. The guide is also available for download on our Visit Wagga website and mailed out to visitor enquiries received at our Visitor Information Centre.

The 2017-18 edition will feature recommendations from locals, suggested itineraries within the city and surrounding areas, as well as partner listings.

This will be a brand new map, highlighting things to do and places to eat within the city and region.

We anticipate the Attractions Map will become our main tool for visitors already in the city and will be distributed to accommodation properties, restaurants and cafes, visitor attractions and other relevant businesses.

Hard copies are distributed through our Visitor Information Centre.

Tourism partners are given priority listings in this publication.

Relevant non-partners are included with basic details.

Partners each receive a listing in the guide. All listings will be consistent with the guide’s overall branding and aesthetics.

Imagery and text are subject to editing and approval.

Attractions Map

Featuring event venues, team building activities and businesses relevant to the needs of event and conference organisers, the guide is one of our most popular downloads from the Visit Wagga website.

Visitor Information Centre factsheets – Eat + Drink, See + Do, Stay, cycling/ walking maps A range of factsheets are produced for distribution at our Visitor Information Centre. These provide visitors with easy-todigest information to make the most of their visit to the city.

Tourism partners are highlighted on these, and have additional information on their business included. Non-partners are included with basic details where possible.

Visit Wagga website The Visit Wagga website attracts over 300,000 visits each year.

In 2016 we moved to a new website and continue to enhance the functionality and user experience of the site as a priority.

Online calendar of events The City of Wagga Wagga supports events by producing a calendar of events for the LGA. We maintain the largest events database in the Riverina region.

Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) listings

INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT Industry events + workshops A range of industry events are organised by our team including business development focussed workshops and seminars as well as networking events.

Partners are invited to these events at no charge or for a reduced fee. Non-partners may attend for a fee.

Support for tourism businesses

ATDW listings feed the Visit Wagga website, as well as Visit NSW and other distributor sites. Listings are available to both partners and non-partners at no cost.

The City of Wagga Wagga’s Visitor Economy and Events team manage listings on behalf of many operators.

Social media Our Visit Wagga Wagga social media channels focus on showcasing the city and surrounding areas to both locals and visitors, primarily through sharing user generated content.

Our team can provide support and guidance for your business in dealings with other divisions of Council.

In many cases, we can provide a letter of support for your business’ grant applications.

Industry newsletter The Visitor Economy and Events team regularly send out an email newsletter with the latest industry news, events and opportunities for business operators and event organisers in the region.

Industry section on Visit Wagga website

We engage with our followers using our hashtag – #visitwagga – and have over 10,000 followers across our three primary channels: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Each month our content reaches over 100,000 social media users.

Our Visit Wagga website has a dedicated Industry section featuring the latest news and events relevant to tourism operators in Wagga Wagga and the surrounding region.

Marketing campaigns Seasonal campaigns to drive visitation are based around key events and experiences.

PR + familiarisation tours

Events support Our team works with event organisers to help make their events in the city a success. We offer advice and assistance, as well as details of funding opportunities through Council.

In partnership with Destination NSW, regional tourism bodies and neighbouring councils, we facilitate a range of familiarisation tours for journalists, bloggers and influencers each year.

When selecting businesses and events relevant to the theme and audience of these, preference is given to Wagga Tourism Partners.

We also work with these bodies to promote the city and region’s offering to a range of media and industry networks.

Image library The City of Wagga Wagga makes images of Wagga Wagga and surrounds available for use in positive promotions of the city and region including tourism operator websites, media publications and other avenues upon request.

Visitor Information Centre The Visitor Economy and Events team oversees the operation of the Wagga Wagga Visitor Information Centre.

Around 40,000 visitors and locals use the centre each year for advice on visiting Wagga, or to purchase local produce and souvenirs.

Tourism partners are welcome to provide brochures for display on the Wagga Wagga + Riverina information stand at our Visitor Information Centre.

Non-partners are also welcome to supply brochures; these are kept behind the counter and distributed to relevant enquiries.

For individuals and organisations who want to stay connected to the local tourism industry, and derive indirect benefit from or supply the general tourism industry. This may include transport operators, publishers and event management/marketing companies.

Additional businesses If you run more than one business and would like a second business listed as a Wagga Tourism Partner, an additional payment of $100 ex GST is applicable for each additional business.

Examples of such businesses include an accommodation operator who would like to promote both their accommodation and restaurant offerings.

Payment options

Outstanding payments

Payment for the Program can be made in full or in two equal instalments. Businesses will be issued an invoice and payment can be made online through Council’s website, by direct deposit, BPAY, cheque or in person at Council’s Customer Service.

If your organisation has any outstanding payments from the 2016-17 Program these must be paid in full and upfront payment for the 2017-18 Program must be received before you are included in promotions, including the printed Visitor Guide.

If you choose two instalments, payments will be due by the following dates: • First instalment due: Friday 7 July, 2017 • Second instalment due: Friday 5 January, 2018

JOINING THE PROGRAM How to join: 1.

Read the Program Terms and Conditions below. These are also available online at visitwagga.com/partners.

2.

Complete and submit an application form, either: • Online at visitwagga.com/partners; or, • Paper form, see page 11.

3.

Once your application is approved, an invoice will be issued according to the payment option you have selected.

You can also take the opportunity to sign up at our Wagga Tourism Partner Program launch. Speak to a Visitor Economy team member for more information.

Note: Your form should be submitted by Thursday 15 June, 2017 for your organisation to be included in the printed Visitor Guide.

Terms + Conditions The City of Wagga Wagga’s Wagga Tourism Partner Program (the Program) facilitates engagement and communication with local businesses to drive visitation and investment in the local economy. The Program’s aim is to lead the marketing and development of Wagga Wagga as a unique and progressive region to visit.

Participation in the Program is in accordance with the following terms and conditions.

1.

Participation in the Program is not confirmed until the application form has been approved (applicant deemed to meet criteria) and full payment has been received.

2.

The City of Wagga Wagga reserves the right to refuse any defamatory, slanderous, misleading or deceptive information or material.

3.

The participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the City of Wagga Wagga from and against all losses, liabilities, proceedings, claims, expenses and other costs arising directly or indirectly as a result of or in connection with the promotion of the product or facilities of the participant.

To the extent permitted by law, the City of Wagga Wagga will not be liable for any claim, loss, damage or expense suffered or incurred arising directly or indirectly out of these terms, the relationship between us or the display or non-display of your details or otherwise whether or not caused by our negligence (including consequential or indirect loss such as loss of data or loss of profits).

It is at the discretion of the City of Wagga Wagga to accept applications to participate in the Program and associated activities.

6.

Responsibility is on the participant to ensure images meet all relevant copyright laws.

7.

Responsibility is on the participant to ensure all information is correct when supplied.

8.

Failure to provide any material by the appropriate production deadlines may result in non-inclusion of product information.

9.

The City of Wagga Wagga does not guarantee the performance, service levels and accessibility of the online platforms (websites, applications, etc.) and hard copy publications used to distribute content.

10.

The positioning of listings on any online platforms (websites, applications, etc.) or hard copy publications is at the discretion of the City of Wagga Wagga.

11.

The City of Wagga Wagga reserves the right to edit copy and images supplied to meet marketing and promotional needs.

12.

Only events deemed to generate tourism (for example, attract day and overnight visitation) will be listed on the calendar of events at the discretion of the City of Wagga Wagga.

13.

The Program benefits may be subject to change without notice.

14.

The 2017-18 Program pricing structure is per annum and may be subject to change in future years.

15.

The participant agrees to the City of Wagga Wagga providing information to third parties including, but not limited to, Destination NSW.

16.

The 2017-18 Program agreement is valid from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018.

17.

Applications to participate in the Program received between January 1, 2018 and June 30, 2018 will be charged at 50% of the annual fee.

18.

Program fees are non-refundable.

19.

It is the responsibility of each participant to be fully compliant with relevant government legislation including, but not limited to, the Local Government Act, Environmental Planning & Assessment Act, Public Health Act and related regulations. The participant also agrees to inspections the City of Wagga Wagga may need to carry out in relation to any of the above legislation and regulations. If a participant is deemed non-compliant, they may be excluded from the Program.

20. Participants must supply at least 2 high resolution images, at least 50 words of promotional copy and relevant business contact details for promotion of their business/organisation within 30 days of joining the Program. Failure to supply these may result in the participant being excluded from promotions, including, but not limited to, the Visitor Guide.

21.

Participants agree to maintain appropriate level of comprehensive public liability insurance, pertaining to their business activity or services offered.
